Dick Cheney Plays the Fool, and Mistakes Us for One

Raise your hand if you defended the Bush administration, including Darth Vader Dick Cheney, over their handling of the Iraq War.

As my mother used to say, Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Sorry, not sorry Darth V Dick—we be won’t fooled again.

Cheney has mostly been out of the public spotlight since the publication of his 2019 memoir, preferring to play Elder Statesman of the Republican Party in the background, and giving the spotlight to his anointed daughter Wyo. Rep. Liz Cheney.

We see how well that’s turned out—at least for the Republican Party. The scion has been maligned and disconnected from her party because she’s more interested in Trump hatred and retribution than actually working for the good of the American people. Since Trump insulted Daddy Cheney and his legacy, Cheney the Child has led the charge in not only helping to see Trump impeached, twice, but being an active participant in the useless January 6 Commission.

But it seems that Cheney the Dick approves of Cheney the Child’s maneuvering to preserve the ground of the Republican elite. After all, Cheney the Child champions endless wars and keeping us beholden to China and foreign interests. Cheney the Child represents a Republican Party that strings its constituents along with empty promises, while robbing them blind and lining the pockets of corporations and special interests. Cheney the Child may be out of favor with her party presently, but she represents the interests of her party’s past, and therefore she must be propped up. Hence why Cheney the Dick decided to make a public appearance to the Halls of Congress as they forced commemoration of the one-year anniversary of the January 6 kerfuffle.

He participated in a moment of silence commemorating the anniversary of January 6 in the House chamber on Thursday, telling reporters that he came to the U.S. Capitol in support of his daughter, Wyoming Representative Liz Cheney. He strongly criticized current House Republican leaders’ response to last year’s violence.

Cheney the Dick told ABC News’ Jonathan Karl that,

“I’m deeply disappointed we don’t have better leadership in the Republican Party to restore the Constitution.”

If he’s disappointed, imagine how we feel? And when was Cheney the Dick ever interested in preserving the Constitution? What exactly does he call the institution of the Patriot Act and the trashing of civil liberties that occurred under the administration for which he served as Vice President?

Cheney also told Karl that January 6, 2021, was “an important historical event” and that “you can’t overestimate how important it is.”

The Democrats, many of the same fossils that called Cheney the Dick “Darth Vader,” “Bush’s Brain,” and called out all his evil, suddenly were lined up to thank him, and offer allegiance to the cause of restoring the Republic Republican Party to its former glory; as long as the Democrats stay in power, of course.

We can’t underestimate the importance of not only destroying the January 6 narrative, but actively voting out any Republican who goes along with it. Save for a candidate for Congress from Washington State, Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, Ind. Rep. Jim Banks, Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley, and a few others, the rest of the Republican Party are either maintaining radio silence or patting Cheney the Child and her crying RINO cohort on the back.

Cheney the Dick came to play the fool, and mistakes the American people for the same. Just like his Child, he should go down in infamy. This time, he’s on the wrong side of history, and he’s been put on notice.
