Many of us have documented here on RedState the excesses and disregard of elected officials during this pandemic. The not-so-great State of California seems to hold the prize.

Governor Gavin Newsom leads the way with his hypocrisy, Speaker Nancy Pelosi follows close behind. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and his arrogance continues to grate, and Los Angeles Board of Supervisors Sheila Kuehl is the most recent one to cause affront and outrage over having a last outdoor meal at her favorite restaurant, right after voting to ban outdoor dining. My colleague Kira Davis wrote about an L.A. saloon owner who angrily and tearfully videoed how entertainment industry crews (which are “exempt” from the current California lockdowns) set outdoor tables and chairs for their catering, while she cannot keep her outdoor dining open. The rank privilege and tone deafness of what is being done to this business owner, and millions of others in California cannot be overstated.

But the privileged class also benefit and enrich their children. The New York Post reports,

“The daughter of California Rep. Maxine Waters netted around $240,000 this past election cycle — from her mother’s own campaign, new records show.

“The congresswoman’s campaigns shelled out payments to Karen Waters for work she did on her 82-year-old mother’s re-election campaign, including “slate mailer management” and “GOTV” — or likely “Get Out the Vote” services.”

“Get Out the Vote” efforts? Despite having an opponent Maxine Waters (D-Crazy) was a shoe-in for re-election. Despite having one of the poorest and dilapidated districts—a district in which she does not live, mind you—Waters won re-election by 74 percentage points!

Waters is one of the most corrupt politicians in the U.S. House. She was made chair of the ultra-powerful House Financial Services Committee, which has jurisdiction over the country’s banking system, economy, housing, and insurance. This, despite her years of steering millions of federal bailout dollars to her husband’s failing bank, OneUnited. Waters allocated $12 million to the Massachusetts bank in which she and her board member husband held shares. OneUnited ended up stiffing American taxpayers; it is doubtful that they ever repaid the bailout money.

So Mad Maxine continues to help her own, while Californians are being stiffed by the Employment Development Department, shut down from working, and businesses are shuttering left and right, never to reopen again.

The Post continues,

“Another $28,150 in payments to Karen Waters occurred in October and November, for “GOTV” and “slate mailer management” fees — though one for $1,000 was simply labeled “Walker payments.”

“Maxine Waters, who chairs the House Financial Services Committee, has been scrutinized over payments to her daughter before. Her campaign has paid Karen Waters or her public relations firm Progressive Connections to produce, print and mail slate mailers since 2004, Fox News said.

“Since then, Waters’ daughter has reportedly received almost $1 million from the campaign.”

One million dollars? For a job that a clerk could have done for minimum wage. Maybe it’s time to protest in front of Mad Maxine or her daughter’s mansion.
