Gov. Gavin Newsom's Kids Get in-Person Learning; All Your Kids Get Is Zoom

California Governor Gavin Newsom said at a news conference that his four children, ages 4 to 11, have returned to the classroom. This while the majority of California schools, including those in Sacramento County where the Newsom family lives, remain closed.

As told to POLITICO:

“Gov. Gavin Newsom said Friday his children have returned to in-person learning under a “phased-in approach” as many schools across the state remain shuttered due to Covid-19 — including nearly all public schools in Sacramento County where the governor lives.

Not to mention the threats by the powers that be if your child misses a virtual session. It’s enough to put both child and parent on Prozac, if not something stronger.

Studies continue to show that there is little risk of COVID exposure to teachers or students.

“Brown University’s National COVID-19 School Response Data Dashboard followed 550 schools across 46 states over a two-week period starting Aug. 31, with at least 300 conducting some form of in-person learning, the Washington Post reported.

“Researchers found that only 0.23 percent of students and 0.51 percent of teachers had confirmed or suspected cases of the virus.”

The CDC has also outlined this clearly:

The best available evidence indicates that COVID-19 poses relatively low risks to school-aged children.  Children appear to be at lower risk for contracting COVID-19 compared to adults.  To put this in perspective, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as of July 17, 2020, the United States reported that children and adolescents under 18 years old account for under 7 percent of COVID-19 cases and less than 0.1 percent of COVID-19-related deaths.[5]  Although relatively rare, flu-related deaths in children occur every year. From 2004-2005 to 2018-2019, flu-related deaths in children reported to CDC during regular flu seasons ranged from 37 to 187 deaths.  During the H1N1pandemic (April 15, 2009 to October 2, 2010), 358 pediatric deaths were reported to CDC. So far in this pandemic, deaths of children are less than in each of the last five flu seasons, with only 64. Additionally, some children with certain underlying medical conditions, however, are at increased risk of severe illness from COVID-19.*

The longer this drags on, it becomes obvious that the insistence on keeping schools closed is less about science, and more about appeasing the heavily-funded teacher’s unions. The fact that “Orange Man Bad” is calling for school reopenings and Democrat-run California is barring the doors is just more icing on that Resistance cake.

This news is also a reflection of the privilege of elites like King Gavin. This is the man who chose to leave his wineries open during the July 4th weekend, while other private wineries were forced to stay closed. It comes as no surprise that he and Queen Jennifer will ensure their children’s education stays on track, while denying others the right to do the same.

In-person education for me, Zoom for thee.

That’s just the way it is.
