The United States Must Stop Supporting the United Nations

The United Nations continues to give more reasons why the United States should cut ties with the international organization. From its apparent anti-Israel bias to its support for tyrannical regimes, it is clear that the U.N. is not what it pretends to be: a peacekeeping entity working to safeguard human rights.

Over the past few decades, the U.N. has shown itself to be a thoroughly corrupt organization that engages in all kinds of malfeasance under the guise of keeping the peace.

Yet, the United States continues to support the international agency.

It was recently revealed that the United Nations Relief and Works Agency was colluding with Hamas terrorists as they carried out their bloody October 7 surprise attack on Israel.

After months of credible accusations, multiple members of the UNRWA, which is a subsidiary of the United Nations, have been directly implicated in the October 7th attacks carried out by Hamas.

The UNRWA has long existed inside Gaza as an ally to Hamas, whether it be teaching genocidal antisemitism in its schools or turning a blind eye to aid being used for terrorist gains. Shortly after October 7th, at least one UNRWA teacher was shown to have held one of the Israeli hostages in his attic. Now, several other employees of the agency have been exposed.

The U.S. State Department immediately moved to freeze funding to the UNRWA. That's a sharp turnaround from the direct defense offered of the UNRWA very recently by the administration.

In response to these latest revelations, Secretary of State Antony Blinken has contacted and demanded the United Nations Secretary-General conduct a swift and thorough investigation of its agency.

Why would the United States wish to be connected to an entity whose members actively support a terrorist group – especially one that has committed countless human rights abuses against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip?

But, given the U.N.’s clear bias against Israel, it should not be surprising that some of its members actively collaborated with Hamas to kill Israelis. Recently, the U.N. issued a directive to Israel to prevent genocide in Gaza and to limit collateral damage. Yet, it had nothing to say about Hamas’ quest to exterminate the Jewish people in the region. This is par for the course for the U.N. and has destroyed its credibility.

To make the organization even more laughable, it recently appointed Iran to helm the U.N. Human Rights Council’s Social Forum. The Iranian regime routinely cracks down on speech, exerts a tremendous level of control over the populace, and does not hesitate to imprison people for political reasons. It even regulates how women can dress. Yet, the U.N. believes the regime should be an arbiter for safeguarding human rights. Other oppressive regimes have also been placed in prominent positions on the Human Rights Council, including China and Russia.

This is only a small smattering of the hypocrisy displayed by the U.N. for decades. Yet, the United States continues to offer its support. Under former President Donald Trump, the U.S. pulled away from the entity but did not completely cut ties.

The U.N. will never be an institution worth trusting or supporting. By shoveling tons of American taxpayer dollars to the agency, the U.S. is essentially wasting money and other resources on an organization that has become nothing more than an international grift.
