After months of credible accusations, multiple members of the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which is a subsidiary of the United Nations, have been directly implicated in the October 7th attacks carried out by Hamas.

The UNRWA has long existed inside Gaza as an ally to Hamas, whether it be teaching genocidal antisemitism in its schools or turning a blind eye to aid being used for terrorist gains. Shortly after October 7th, at least one UNRWA teacher was shown to have held one of the Israeli hostages in his attic. Now, several other employees of the agency have been exposed.

The U.S. State Department immediately moved to freeze funding to the UNRWA. That's a sharp turnaround from the direct defense offered of the UNRWA very recently by the administration.

In response to these latest revelations, Secretary of State Antony Blinken has contacted and demanded the United Nations Secretary-General conduct a swift and thorough investigation of its agency.

Unfortunately, that's like asking the fox to investigate who stole the hens. As RedState has reported, the UNRWA is an awful organization that directly provides aid and comfort to Hamas. In early December, a spokesman for the UN agency went on CNN and repeatedly deflected when presented with evidence of malfeasance.

On December 1st, the UNRWA released a lengthy statement demanding anyone accusing it of aiding Hamas provide evidence. Well, they've now got their evidence, and naturally, the leadership is pretending they knew nothing about what was happening on the ground. No one should believe that.

The United Nations is irredeemable. There is no reason for the United States to continue supporting it. It should be booted out of New York and never given another dime. Yet, I fully suspect that the freeze on funding to the UNRWA will only be temporary. Certainly, the United Nations is not going to take responsibility for what occurred.

There should be no role for the UNRWA or any UN entity in Gaza once the war ends. Israel should make that clear. To allow the continued proliferation of terrorism under the guise of "refugee" assistance would be self-destructive. That Israel likely can't count on the United States to stand behind them on that front is truly a disgrace.
