Cori Bush in Desperate Need of Dictionary After Accusing Israel of 'Ethnic Cleansing' Campaign

Members of “The Squad” continue to serve as mouthpieces for the international anti-Israel movement, accusing the nation of all kinds of atrocities while going easy on Hamas, the terrorist organization that started the current war after slaughtering over 1,000 Israeli men, women, and children on October 7. In this episode, Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) displayed a remarkable level of ignorance when she accused Israel of carrying out an “ethnic cleansing campaign.”

On Sunday, the lawmaker wrote a post on X, formerly Twitter, responding to a video showing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu comparing Hamas to Amalek, an enemy of Israel discussed in the Old Testament. She wrote:

We can’t be silent about Israel’s ethnic cleansing campaign.

Babies, dead.

Pregnant women, dead.

Elderly, dead.

Generations of families, dead.

Millions of people in Gaza with nowhere to go being slaughtered.

The U.S. must stop funding these atrocities against Palestinians.

Bush’s comments come as Israel is ramping up its ground operations in Gaza, targeting rocket and anti-tank missile positions. The Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry claims that over 8,000 Palestinians have been killed due to Israel’s airstrikes. However, it is worth noting that Hamas’ numbers are likely inflated.

Further, it appears that folks like Bush are looking at this conflict through a political lens rather than a humanitarian one. Like many of her colleagues, Bush has made scant mention of the atrocities Hamas has inflicted since the war began and even in its dark past. She has not commented on the reality that Hamas sparked the war that has claimed so many Palestinian lives as it has done so many times in its history.

Moreover, the notion that Israel’s actions constitute “ethnic cleansing” shows that Bush is either a liar or someone in dire need of a dictionary.

Ethnic cleansing occurs when one party brings about the systematic removal, displacement, or eradication of a particular ethnic, racial, or religious group from a specific geographic area for the purpose of establishing a homogenous region. This can be done using forced migration, deportation, intimidation, mass murder, and genocide.

To put it simply, Israel’s actions are specifically targeted at Hamas and other terrorists in Gaza and the West Bank. It is not a systematic effort to wipe out the Palestinian population. Indeed, over its history, many enemies of Israel have accused its government of trying to carry out genocide and ethnic cleansing. However, the fact that the Palestinian population in Gaza and the West Bank has grown from 1.98 million to 5.04 million between 1990 and 2022 shows that either Israel isn’t very good at doing genocide or is not, in fact, trying to eradicate Palestinian Arabs.

However, Bush’s comments are quite ironic given the fact that Hamas, the organization for which she is running cover, is bent on committing genocide and ethnic cleansing in Israel. In fact, the terrorist group is open about the fact that it seeks to eliminate Israel as a Jewish nation. Its charter, which was drafted in 1988, calls for the “complete destruction of Israel” as an essential condition for the “liberation of Palestine” and the establishment of a theocracy based on Islamic law. Indeed, the charter goes on to assert that “the Day of Judgement will not come about until Muslims fight the Jews (killing the Jews).”

If Hamas had its way, it would have already killed every Jewish man, woman, and child in Israel. It lacks only the means to do so, fortunately. But Bush seems to be practicing a well-known political tactic on Hamas’ behalf: “Always accuse your enemy of that which you are doing.”
