One would think that when presented with overwhelming evidence that the vast majority of Americans are not on board with your ideas, you might approach certain issues differently. Indeed, what’s the point of pushing something that people clearly think is absurd, ridiculous, and even deeply offensive?
Yet, this is precisely what Democrats and the so-called progressive left are doing when it comes to the issue of trans-ing children. Americans were already iffy on the issue of transgender ideology as it was applied to adults. But the hard left made a terrible mistake when they got caught going after children behind their parents’ backs.
Even after a nationwide backlash against the trans-ing of children ensued when parents realized what was happening in the classroom, progressives doubled down, choosing to either lie about the issue or do their typical “if you don’t agree with us, you’re a transphobe” routine. Terry McAuliffe was summarily slapped down by Virginia voters in last year’s gubernatorial election because he had the temerity – or stupidity – to say that parents should not have a role in deciding how their children are educated. Nevertheless, the pro-trans-ing kids crowd persists.
A recent Rasmussen survey conducted with the Capitol Resource Institute (CRI) revealed that the majority of parents – regardless of political affiliation – reject the hard left’s effort to push transgenderism to young children in the classroom. Researchers found that “89% of Likely U.S. voters think it is important that public schools fully inform parents about what is being taught to their children in classrooms, including 70% who say it is Very Important.”
Even further, “Sixty-nine percent (69%) of voters believe books containing explicit sexual depictions of sex acts, including homosexual sex, should not be present in public high school libraries” and “[t]he majority opposed to sexually explicit books in public school libraries rises to 79% for middle schools and 85% for elementary schools,” according to the survey’s findings.
Researchers also found that even most Democrats believe it is important that parents be informed of what their children are learning in class.
“Majorities of Republicans (85%), Democrats (56%) and 69% of voters not affiliated with either major party believe it is Very Important that public schools fully inform parents about what is being taught to their children in classrooms,” the report explained.
“There is no such thing as ‘age-appropriate’ for obscenity and pornography in public school libraries,” said Karen England, president of CRI. “If the public knew how many books containing explicit sexual depictions of sex acts were in their public school libraries they would be pulling their children out of school immediately.”
Still, school districts are still promoting transgender ideology to children. In fact, a Vermont high school reportedly came under fire after it banned female volleyball players from using their locker room after someone made a complaint against a biological male who identifies as a girl for making an “inappropriate remark” to some of the actual girls while they were changing. Now, these girls are forced to change in a bathroom stall as officials investigate the supposedly transgender student, according to Daily Mail.
I can think of only one reason why Democrats would continue pushing this issue despite knowing Americans are not on board with it. Perhaps they believe that by continuing to indoctrinate children in the classroom, they will eventually bring about a generation that does support trans-ing kids. They could be playing the long game.
These folks know that no amount of calling people transphobes will persuade most adults in today’s America. This is part of the reason why they’re trying to sell it to the kids. It’s quite a gambit, but it could work if those opposing this movement fail to effectively destroy it. Fortunately, there are plenty of individuals and organizations working hard to defeat this effort – but this does not mean victory is assured. Perhaps exposing these issues to more people will inspire them to get off the sidelines and get into the fight.
