Fentanyl Continues to Flow Into the Country Through the Southern Border

How many people will have to die before the White House starts paying attention to the situation at the southern border instead of constantly lying about it? Last year, over 100,000 Americans died from drug overdoses. Fentanyl coming over the border accounted for about 60% of those deaths.

But the flow of the deadly drug has not slowed down. Indeed, it may have even increased since the start of the current migrant crisis the nation is facing.

Last week, the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) seized the largest stash of the drug that the agency has ever seen. The Texan reported:

The 2,000 grams of pure fentanyl were seized by the TCSO Combined Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET) along with the SWAT Team and Fort Worth Police Tactical Medics when they executed a search warrant on a Tarrant County residence.

This is enough fentanyl to kill one million Americans, which is half the size of Tarrant County’s population. Sheriff Waybourn celebrated the development, saying he was “very proud of our team for their hard work,” in removing the drug from the streets. But he also asked a troubling question: “How much have we missed?”

Authorities at the border and elsewhere have been finding enormous amounts of fentanyl being smuggled into the country. Last month, Border Patrol seized $4.3 million in fentanyl in Arizona. The agency reported:

After receiving her consent to search the vehicle, agents found three bags containing packages wrapped in black tape and cellophane as well as coated in axle grease, a technique often used to mask the scent of drugs. Further investigation revealed 340 packages of fentanyl pills weighing a grand total of 187 pounds and worth an estimated $4.3 million.

Border Patrol seized a record amount of synthetic opioids in July. The agency reported seizing about 1,800 pounds of fentanyl in that month. Most of this stash had come through U.S. ports of entry.

Earlier this week, Vice President Kamala Harris once again lied to the nation and said the border is “secure.” During a conversation with NBC News’ Chuck Todd, she said:

I think that there is no question that we have to do what the president and I asked Congress to do, the first request we made: pass a bill to create a pathway to citizenship. The border is secure, but we also have a broken immigration system, in particular, over the last four years before we came in, and it needs to be fixed.

Meanwhile, an illegal immigrant revealed that Harris’ protestations were an outright lie. Fox News reporter Griff Jenkins spoke with migrants who were transported from Texas to Harris’ home via the Abbott Express. When asked about the southern border, one of the men said, “It’s open, not closed. The border is open.”

Jenkins asked if others believed the border was open. The man answered:

“Yeah, everybody believes that the border’s open. It’s open because we enter, we come in, free. No problem.”

“But it’s open for you to come illegally, right?”

“Illegally. Yes, illegally. That’s true,” the migrant replied.

“And you came illegally?” Jenkins asked.

“Yeah, we came illegally. Not legal.”

The White House has a rather odd definition of the word “secure,” doesn’t it?

But we didn’t need commentary from one of the illegals who snuck into the country to know that Biden and company are full of bovine excrement when it comes to the migrant crisis. But what is abhorrent about this whole situation is the lives that it has cost. The White House insisted on reversing most of former President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, and Americans have died as a result.

Mexican drug cartels have been emboldened to the point that they are sneaking people and drugs into the country with impunity, knowing that Biden will do nothing to stop them. This blood is on the president’s hands. Unfortunately, he does not seem to care.
