Ryan To Endorse Trump? Trump Camp Says Yes, Ryan Camp Says No

Ryan-Trump

Paul Ryan outfoxed Donald Trump when he at first said he was not “ready” to endorse him for President. Trump went on one of his usual tirades threatening to have Ryan removed as the Committee Chairman at the Republican National Convention. Ryan responded by saying, “Hey if you want to me step down, I will.” He wasn’t drawn into one of Trump’s usual pissing matches and the furor quickly died down.

There are reports out that say Ryan is ready to endorse Donald Trump and the endorsement could come this week. From ABC:

Senior level Trump campaign sources confirmed to ABC News Wednesday that House Speaker Paul Ryan will be endorsing presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.

It’s unclear when the endorsement will take place, but Ryan has a briefing on the House GOP agenda scheduled later today in Washington.

Its been widely reported that Trump and Ryan haven’t seen eye to eye on several issues.

The Wisconsin Republican has frequently condemned Trump’s campaign, including his proposed ban of Muslim immigration, and Trump’s initial resistance in denouncing the Ku Klux Klan after he was endorsed by former grand wizard David Duke.

Bloomberg goes further, revealing who the Trump source is:

House Speaker Paul Ryan has begun telling confidants that he wants to end his standoff with Donald Trump in part because he’s worried the split has sharpened divisions in the Republican Party, according to two people close to the lawmaker.

Ryan aides say nothing has been decided about a possible Trump endorsement. But Trump’s campaign manager, Paul Manafort, told a small group of Republican lawmakers Thursday that he expects Ryan to endorse the party’s nominee as early as this week, according to two people in the meeting.

Emphasis mine.

That is a big red flag. The sources of the information are from the Trump campaign and as we know, they are about as reliable as a Weekly World News story about the latest sighting of Batboy.

Sure enough, this morning, the Paul Ryan’s team said this is not the case:

Ryan has said Trump could win if he unifies the party. I am guessing that Trump lambasting fellow Republican and New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez for “not doing her job.”

Can you feel the unity?

Will it happen? Time will tell. For now at least, it looks like yet another example of people in the Trump camp talking out of their butts. Again.
