We have all known somebody or of somebody that has been booted from Twitter. Whether their suspension is temporary or indefinite, chances are it was for something stupid, particularly if the offending person is a conservative.
A guy many of us know, Michael Deppisch was put into Twitter purgatory and forced to delete a tweet that supposedly threatened the life of “comedian” Margaret Cho. It was complete nonsense, but it didn’t matter.
Recently, Azealia Banks, a hip hop artist who is also very stupid, read a satirical news story about Sarah Palin and assumed it was true. Anybody with half a brain would know the story didn. Banks didn’t. Because again – Banks is stupid.
Banks took to Twitter to tweet some particularly vile things about Palin. Here is one of them:
The other two are far too NSFW to post here. You can read them over here if you want.
Naturally, people reported this to Twitter and what they did they say?
“We reviewed the content and determined that it was not in violation of the Twitter Rules,” said the social media giant to someone who formally filed a complaint on Bank’s disgusting tweet.
What? How in the world does somebody tweet they want somebody to be gang raped and it’s not a violation of the rules? Here is Twitter’s Terms of Service:
“Violent threats (direct or indirect): You may not make threats of violence or promote violence, including threatening or promoting terrorism,” Twitter’s Terms of Service read.
“Hateful conduct: You may not promote violence against or directly attack or threaten other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or disease,” Twitter’s Terms of Service adds. “We also do not allow accounts whose primary purpose is inciting harm towards others on the basis of these categories.”
I certainly think what Banks tweeted qualifies.
