Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee appears to be posturing himself for a possible 2016 Presidential run, recently reversing his pro-Common Core stance and ending his radio program. He also said the chances he will run are 50/50, and that he will decide after the midterms. Of course, we already know that Huckabee is a big-government politician and the only reasons many conservatives give him the time of day are his speaking ability and personality.

Perhaps seeking the support of big money donors such as Sheldon Adelson and bundlers like Karl Rove, Huckabee is going to bat for Lindsey Graham in South Carolina. Here is the ad he cut for Graham:

According to Huckabee, Graham is a champion of “peace through strength.” Actually, based on his actions and rhetoric, he is a champion of superficial democracy through war. One of his challengers, State Senator Lee Bright, often refers to Graham as a “community organizer for the Muslim Brotherhood.”

Many politicians on both sides of the isle are now realizing that war for the sake of war isn’t necessarily best for national security or international stability. Often, it enables our enemies and creates extreme cases of instability. We should continue to be vigilant against terrorism, but there are better strategies for fighting radical Islam than the ones currently being employed. War should only be used when it is the best strategy, such as the invasion of Afghanistan following 9/11. It should not be the first option on the table for frivolous reasons such as appearing “strong” or “tough.”

Huckabee kindly didn’t mention all of Graham’s big government positions. Apparently voters don’t approve of them.

What we need to take away from this endorsement is that big government politicians will always stick together, because it is the only thing that can save them from the grassroots. Oh, and don’t support Graham in 2014 or Huckabee in 2016.
