Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott Ken Paxton, as one of his first acts upon taking his job in January, filed suit against Barack Obama for his executive amnesty.

Joining Texas in the lawsuit are: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, West Virginia, Wisconsin.

Over night, a federal district court in Texas enjoined the President from his executive amnesty. In his order, the judge said to let the amnesty go forward only to later find it unconstitutional would be trying to put toothpaste back in the tube.

Given the benefits illegal aliens will under the President’s amnesty plan, the judge found it would put both the states and the aliens in a terrible position should the President’s amnesty be undone in court. The court’s order comes just two days before people could start applying under the President’s program.

As a result, temporarily at least, the President’s hand is stayed by a court. I suspect the President’s team will file an emergency appeal to the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals.

But, for today, the good guys win. God bless Texas.
