Shame on Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin. He Lied to Bill O'Reilly.

Last week, reports surfaced that the Senate GOP had a meeting in which Senators screamed at and berated Senators Mike Lee and Ted Cruz. Senator Ron Johnson appeared on Bill O’Reilly’s show to deny that anyone yelled or screamed at Senators Lee and Cruz in that meeting.Ron Johnson is a damn liar. There was one, and only one, Senator screaming at the top of his lungs in that room — Senator Ron Johnson. In January 2013, Ron Johnson called Obamacare the “greatest assault on our freedom in our lifetime.”In 2010, Rich Lowry at National Review, noted that Ron Johnson was running “to repeal[] Obamacare.”Johnson attacked his opponent, Russ Feingold, as the deciding vote on Obamacare.George Will noted back in the 2010 campaign that Ron Johnson went around Wisconsin telling folks that Atlas Shrugged was his “foundational book.”According to the Politico back in 2010, Ron Johnson “argue[d] with conviction that Obama represents nothing less than a threat to turn America into a “socialist, European-style” state.”In 2011, I supported Senator Ron Johnson in his bid for Vice Chairman of the Republican Conference. At the time, I noted he was “one of the very unique bridge builders between conservatives and the establishment.” After McConnell helped defeat him, it looks like Johnson has decided that blowing up the bridge with the grassroots is the only way to stay in good graces with the big boys on the playground. During a radio interview with a local talk show host the other day, Johnson called Ted Cruz “intellectually dishonest,” claiming that “in order to have made the defund strategy work, we needed five Democratic Senators to join us.” He had previously referred to the defund Obamacare strategy as a “circular firing squad.”What is really intellectually dishonest is for Ron Johnson to claim that he supports getting rid of Obamacare with a better strategy. What is that strategy, Senator? How many more years will it take to control all branches of government outright? Do you really think we will even make a dent in Obamacare at that point? It’s funny to watch all these naysayer purveyors of conventional wisdom come to the realization that maybe Republicans can win this battle after all. Between Obama’s barricading of the WWII Memorial, Reid’s lack of regard for funding cancer research during the shutdown, and the House standing firm for once, we are actually turning the tables on them. Ironically, at the end of the interview, Ron Johnson praises the House for passing individual funding bills prioritizing essential functions. Well, who do you think proposed that strategy? That’s right, Ted Cruz. Imagine for a moment how much progress we would be making if Republicans like Ron Johnson would spend their time exposing Harry Reid’s callous disregard for veterans instead of echoing his talking points against Ted Cruz? With the overwhelming majority of House Republicans united as ever in the fight against Obamacare, the only circular firing squad in town is brought to you by Ron Johnson and the other disciples of Mitch McConnell. Senator Ron Johnson went on Bill O’Reilly’s television show to claim no Senators were yelling in last week’s meeting. That is an outright lie. There is one Senator who screamed at the top of his lungs. His name was Ron Johnson.
