New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo speaks during a news conference alongside the National Guard at the Jacob Javits Center that will house a temporary hospital in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, Monday, March 23, 2020, in New York. New York City hospitals are just 10 days from running out of “really basic supplies,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said late Sunday. De Blasio has called upon the federal government to boost the city’s quickly dwindling supply of protective equipment. Just a little brief interruption of your 24/7 coverage of the Chinese virus:

Following a recent coronavirus response briefing, speculation began to swirl over what appeared to be “protrusions” under New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s white shirt. Does the governor have nipple piercings?

The New York Post, known for its great headlines, ran an article entitled, “Andrew Cuomo’s nipples take our minds off coronavirus.” It said:

Twitter and Reddit users furiously debated just what was going on under Cuomo’s official white polo.

Is it just me or is Cuomo’s nipple totally pierced?,” read one tweet on Saturday, which turned into a Reddit thread that attempted to get to the bottom of the issue.

“There’s definitely something going on under there,” one user wrote, with another dubbing the possible piercings “the single greatest discovery by humanity.”

“If it is, I like him even more.”

Some cyber-sleuths tried to find alternate theories, like maybe Cuomo tapes his nipples to prevent chafing, or that they are unusually shaped.

Or maybe it was just a bit nippy that day.

Today, Cuomo’s former girlfriend of fourteen years, Chef Sandra Lee, shut down the debate once and for all. She provided a video message to Page Six. Lee said:

I woke up this morning to a lot of stuff going on online, a lot of stories being written and a lot of nonsense being said, and I just want to say, body shaming is not okay, it’s never going to be okay.

When people are out on the front lines, working so hard for all of our benefits, to then turn around and body shame? Shame on you, knock it off. Do something to uplift people and make the world a better place, not take cheap shots that are unnecessary.

Anyway, I hope you all have a great day and think about that for a little while, and I send you all my love and best wishes.

Additionally, Cuomo’s spokesman was asked by the New York Post if the governor had nipple piercings and he replied, “Of course not, sorry, internet.”

So, that’s the end of that.
