During a packed rally in Monroe, LA on Wednesday night, President Trump read the 2017 tweets of Mark S. Zaid, the alleged whistleblower’s attorney, aloud to his supporters. These tweets were reported shortly before Trump took the stage. My colleague, Nick Arama, posted about the tweets here.

Trump said, “I’m coming off the plane and they hand me this. Look at this character.” He holds up a photo of Zaid.

He reads from the article in his hand. ”Coup has started in 2017. You know when that was. That was a long time ago…It’s all a hoax. They say January 2017, a coup has started and the impeachment will follow ultimately.”

“It’s all a hoax. It’s all a scam. And you know who helps them? These people right back here.” Trump points to the media section. “And then he said…oops…a light’s gonna go off, a CNN light’s gonna go off.” He’s telling the audience that when he starts to criticize the media, especially one particular outlet, they stop coverage.

The crowd goes wild. He continues, “From the lawyer, a sleaze ball, ‘I predict @CNN will play a key role in @realDonaldTrump not finishing out his first term.’ Can you believe this?…Then he goes, ‘As one falls, two more will take their place’ referring to outgoing Trump administration employees.'”

“Who, by the way, have been put through hell by the sleaze back there.” He points again to the media section. “And the crooked politicians.”

Not that the President has exactly been understated in his rebukes of the media, but last night’s attacks sound, to me, to be the most brutal yet. Then again, Zaid’s tweets may be the first time a member of the deep state has ever so clearly articulated the Democratic agenda. Zaid acknowledges there was a coup against Trump from day one. He calls it the “first of many steps,” meaning the Democrats had an orchestrated order of events planned to bring down the Trump administration. And in no uncertain terms, he states that the end goal of their efforts is impeachment. It really couldn’t be any clearer than that.

Zaid has become known for his frequent criticism of President Trump. And he’s only the whistleblower’s co-counsel.

The lead counsel is Andrew Bakaj. According to the Washingtonian, they are both national security lawyers. Prior to founding the Compass Rose Legal Group, Bakaj “was an investigator in the inspector general’s offices at both the CIA and the Department of Defense, working on probes into whistleblower reprisals. Bakaj also served at the State Department, and worked for Democratic senators Daniel Moynihan, Charles Schumer, and Hillary Clinton earlier in his career.”

It’s fair to say the whistleblower is being represented by kindred spirits.

The Trump campaign’s communications director, Tim Murtaugh, told Fox News. “The whistleblower’s lawyer gave away the game. It was always the Democrats’ plan to stage a coup and impeach President Trump and all they ever needed was the right scheme. They whiffed on Mueller so now they’ve settled on the perfectly fine Ukraine phone call. This proves this was orchestrated from the beginning.”

Here are Zaid’s tweets, which cannot be misconstrued.
