Men Without Chests

C.S. Lewis warned,

We make men without chests and expect from them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst.

Along this same line of thought, the Daily Wire published an interesting article the other day drawing a correlation between male physical weakness and socialist tendencies.

From the article

An academic study from researchers at Brunel University London assessed 171 men, looking at their height, weight, overall physical strength and bicep circumference, along with their views on redistribution of wealth and income inequality. The study, published in the Evolution and Human Behavior journal, found that weaker men were more likely to favor socialist policies than stronger men.

While pretty much confirming what most of us already knew, of course the article had to tie this concept into today’s leftist economic bugaboo, inequality.

Brunel University’s Michael Price believes this may be a product of evolutionary psychology.

“This is about our Stone Age brains, in a modern society,” said Dr. Price. “Our minds evolved in environments where strength was a big determinant of success. If you find yourself in a body not threatened by other males, if you feel you can win competitions for status, then maybe you start thinking inequality is pretty good.”

This is typical of leftist”thought.” Demeaning and degrading talent and achievement in order to make everyone the same. Of course making everyone the same will always result in everyone becoming dirt poor. I find it interesting that the article avoided the real conclusion. Weaker men tend to believe they have a right to the property that others have earned.

Steve Straub in the Federalist Papers, puts it more tongue in cheek. Here’s an extract. For the full piece, which many of us have seen before, click here.

Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadic hunters/gatherers. They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the winter.
The two most important events in all of history were the invention of beer and the invention of the wheel. The wheel was invented to get man to the beer. These were the foundation of modern civilization and together were the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two distinct subgroups:

1. Liberals; and
2. Conservatives.

The point here is that like most good humor, this meme is based on truth. Liberal males, do tend to be weaker and more effeminate. This doesn’t do society any favors. I find it ironic that lately, women are now asking, “Where have all the men gone.” Gee, I wonder.
