For once, The Los Angeles Times finally gets it right. In yesterday’s edition, Scott Jennings wrote the article I’ve been meaning to for quite some time. Jennings beat me to it, by a fair thee well, too.

Why do Republicans stick with Donald Trump? It’s a question I’m asked again and again by Democrats, “Never Trumpers,” and journalists. But the answer is simple.

Attitude and gratitude.

For years, Republican voters wanted someone — anyone — to come along and do two things: stick it to the Clintons and punch back against the media-Democratic Party alliance that fires on every Republican brave enough to stick a head out of the foxhole.

If you attended any GOP fundraiser or grassroots event between 2000 and 2016 — and I went to hundreds — you heard this sentiment over and over. And over. And over.

The author is spot on. He has fully grasped just how much we bottom feeders wanted someone to be our Paladin, our Captain to lead us into battle. Jennings goes on to call out some of the more egregious Clinton sins that have stuck in Republican craws for the longest time. Some of the best excerpts,

For Republicans, it seemed like those awful Clintons got to play by a different set of rules than the rest of us. And they always seemed so smug about it. Many had tried and failed to oppose them.

But she still wound up secretary of State while Bill traveled the world, racking up speaking fees and foundation tributes that would embarrass Croesus himself. Damn those Clintons.

I would add that if I or any other RedStater with military background had handled Top Secret-SCI info as Hillary Clinton did, our sorry butts would still be UNDER Ft Leavenworth.

For finally bringing them to heel, alone, the president has earned the forever gratitude of virtually every Republican. The rest hardly matters. Jared’s security clearance? National emergency? Stormy Daniels? Please.

Like the high school quarterback who took his team to the state championship, Trump will never buy a Diet Coke in the proverbial Republican saloon again. And the barkeep will hang Robert Mueller’s report in the back of a urinal.

As I have done previously, the article goes on to point out that out of the entire Republican offensive football squad plus a few substitutes, Donald John Trump, was and remains the only one who could have beaten Clinton. Jennings agrees:

The natural conclusion of this pent-up anger finally boiled over in 2016.

Enter Donald Trump, the only Republican candidate who understood the actual consumer demands of the Republican marketplace: Be strong enough, bold enough, crazy enough and ruthless enough to beat the elitist media and Hillary Clinton, who is slipperier and meaner than a wet panther.

Remember that debate repost? “Because you’d be in jail!” That, my friends, is when Donald Trump won all the marbles.

I have said previously, that all Trump needs to do is keep the economy rolling and be able to show a mile or so of completed “wall,” along with several more miles under construction and he will win going away, with more electoral votes than in 2016.

Reading this article reminded me of something I should have included in my original article. In addition to the economy and the wall, Trump also needs to keep punching back when the leftists, their sycophantic press and Hollywood “elites,” disparage us, his “deplorable” base. No Mitt Romney style “Prevent Defense.” Keep punching back—hard.
