A number of us have been following the debacle in Virginia, where the Democrat Governor has been credibly accused of posing for a racist photo while in college.

Ralph Northam, a Democrat who won a narrow victory over his Republican opponent (Ed Gillespie) had his sordid past exposed (By Whom?). That is odd enough in and of itself. What is really interesting are the possible reasons for this particular skeleton picking this particular time to sally forth from the closet, especially since it appears to be quite likely that his Republican opponent, Ed Gillespie, had this evidence during the campaign and sat on it.

Yesterday, my good friend and writing mentor Streiff penned an interesting article as to the possible reason Candidate Gillespie had this evidence and failed to release it during the election. It’s a good bet that if this information had been released Gillespie would have won this squeaker of a race. My friend opined that the primary reason was Gillespie had more than a small case of McCain/Romney/JEB!-ism and refused to go to the mat, fearing charges of racism.

“In a racially charged campaign, would Gillespie want to be accused of trying to depress black turnout? Could he even be sure the press wouldn’t ignore the images and savage him (more than they were) for employing a “dirty trick” to distract voters from the lofty issues at stake…like would Gillespie supporters actually chase black and Hispanic kids with their pickups?”

I put Streiff’s article to my patented “Scotch Test.” That is: Would I bet a bottle of scotch for, or against said proposition and if so, would it be a bottle of the good stuff—Single Malt, or if less sure, a bottle of that blended swill? In Streiff’s case, I’d definitely wager a bottle of the good hooch, that he’s spot on.

Having admitted such, the conspiracy nut that resides deep down inside me wants to posit another option. Enter the Democrat Lieutenant Governor for Virginia, Justin E. Fairfax, the legal successor should Northam be forced, coerced or otherwise leave office before his term.

Fairfax appears to be cut out of the Obama mold. To quote Joe Biden,

“I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” Biden said. “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

The Democrats are scared to death. The Trump economy is getting traction and the employment/unemployment numbers are all going his way, especially in the minority communities. Black and Hispanic unemployment are at an all-time low. Never at any time have these numbers been better. The leftists need a candidate who not only minorities can get behind, but one who centrists can look at, listen to and decide, this guy makes sense. Shrill racists and sex baiters like Warren and Harris ain’t gonna cut it.

They need somebody who not only the extreme left can get behind, but also somebody the center can. Most importantly, they need to staunch the hemorrhage of black voters who are boarding the Trump Train because of the Trump Economy. Fairfax might just be the tourniquet the Democrats want to use to staunch the Trump bleeding.

Is it really so hard to believe that Democrats decided to sacrifice a White, Anglo-Saxon male whose past “crimes” were inevitably going to be discovered, in order to usher in another Democrat who could be the next Obama?
