Get your popcorn ready for the first gubernatorial debate between Greg Abbott in one corner and Wendy Davis in the other corner. They will square off at 6-7 CDT in the Rio Grande Valley and it will be aired at 10:00pm EDT on C-SPAN for the country’s entertainment enjoyment.
It seems that Abbott should tie one hand behind his back to make the debate fair but remarkably, he’s only ahead by 8 points according to the Davis campaign. But the Abbott campaign shows him with an 18 point lead. The Real Clear Politics poll has Abbott shows him at +12.6. Personally I thought it would be a greater lead by now, but hopefully after tonight’s debate Abbott’s lead will leap ahead.
Many take this election for granted for good reasons, as RedState has covered the Democrat candidate, Abortion Barbie, at length. But to Texans, this is the first time we get to vote for a new Governor in 14 years! To quote Biden, “it’s a big @#$ deal!
To put that in some perspective, someone that voted as an 18 year old in 2000 is now 32. Hopefully they are now smarter and wiser and will vote Republican in 2016!
Is this true, about Branstad? (yes from Wikipedia and also the next quote):
Perry is the second longest serving current U.S. governor – after Terry Branstad of Iowa.
The good news is after all these years, Perry has made his mark on all levels of government, including the Texas Supreme Court:
Perry is the longest serving governor in Texas state history. As a result, he is the only governor in modern Texas history to have appointed at least one person to every eligible state office, board, or commission position (as well as to several elected offices to which the governor can appoint someone to fill an unexpired term, such as six of the nine current members of the Texas Supreme Court).
So if you can’t afford a movie ticket, or your football game is over, at least this debate promises to a match of wits against the witless. Sorry Wendy Bendy, you are bound to stumble in the rumble. Hope you have your lucky pink sneakers on as you will need them.
Hey, it’s what my parents called good clean fun and it’ll keep you out of the pool hall. Did I mention it was free? Popcorn please.
