Former President Donald Trump was subpoenaed by the House Select committee to investigate the events that took place on Jan. 6, 2021, a move that was telegraphed last week.

Trump is asked to hand over phone records, photographs, audio recordings, and other documentation on things related to Jan. 6 by Nov. 4, and he is also asked to appear for a deposition on Nov. 14. Specifically, they also want to know about conversations between Trump and members of Congress between Dec. 18 and Jan. 6 if it pertained to the election, Axios reported.

The committee agreed unanimously last week to subpoena the former president, according to Axios.

“We recognize that a subpoena to a former President is a significant and historic action. We do not take this action lightly,” Chairman Bennie Thompson (D-MS) and Vice Chair Liz Cheney (R-WY) said in a letter on Friday.

Although it’s unclear if he will testify, Fox News reported last week that a source close to him says he “loves the idea of testifying.” When the outlet asked directly if he would talk with the committee, he would not say.
