This weekend I, along with Breeanne and Ben Howe, was privileged to participate in the Franklin Center for Government and Public Integrity’s conference on school choice in Milwaukee.

The Franklin Center brought together 30 bloggers from around the country. We spent Friday and Saturday learning about and discussing the complicated and sometimes controversial issue of school choice with very knowledgeable experts in the field. The experts included school choice advocates such as Derrell Bradford. You can get a taste of what we experienced by watching Derrell’s TED lecture, “Education reform and the digital music revolution,” in the following video:

We also heard from economist Robert Enlow, Bob Bowen (of The Cartel fame), Jim Bender, Michael Brickman, Christian D’Andrea, Kyle Olson, Will Green, Scot Jensen, Brian Jodice, Zeus Rodriguez, Ben Scafidi, Randan Steinhauser and Matt Ladner.

Perhaps you are aware of, but unfamiliar with, the Franklin Center. The Franklin Center is a nonprofit, online news organization that publishes news and commentary from a free market, limited government perspective on state and local government and politics. The organization was founded to help fill the void created as newspapers cut back on statehouse news coverage and investigative reporting

As a result of the training provided by the Franklin Center and the establishment of a network of the bloggers, the speakers and their organizations, you can expect to see more reporting about school/education choice.
