Woke 2.0 is going really well, guys. As you can see, it's far more aggressive and opinionated than Woke 1.0, but just as outraged. More bold, just as exhausting.
One of the things I hate about modern leftism is that you're not allowed to laugh unless that laughter is pointed at a pre-approved group in our society, like white men or Christians. Asians are also on the menu sometimes, but only if the winds are right. Should you tell a joke about women, specifically women's bodies, then you're public enemy number one, and the entire leftist machine will turn against you.
I swear Shane Gillis knew that when he told the joke about women's clothing at the gym. If there's one thing he loves doing, it's telling jokes that are actually funny about people or subjects you're not supposed to joke about. In other words, he's a comedian.
As you can read in Bob Hoge's article, the Left erupted like Vesuvius and attempted to burn Gillis to ash, but as everyone predicted, most people are too supportive of Gillis to let him be canceled in any official capacity. Once again, the Left shows its impotent rage, and we can all do nothing but laugh about it. However, the thing that gets me isn't just said impotent rage; it's that the Left doesn't even understand why it's angry.
Lucky for my readers, I've been doing this long enough to know the real issue beneath their anger.
As Hoge noted, actor Dan Levy was corrected by X Community Notes after he proclaimed Gillis called women whores, but Gillis didn't actually say that. He said they dressed like whores while at the gym, which is entirely true. As an inconsistent gym-goer myself, I often have to avert my eyes on the advice of the Lord because the kind of clothing some women wear to work out is so thin and form-fitting that it just looks like they painted their outfit on. I'm not even exaggerating. As a man, the bestial part of my brain thinks it caught sight of a bare butt most of the time.
This is how a whore dresses. It's advertisement in the sex economy. Even if she's not charging, she wants you to look, desire, and pursue so that she can use your attention and body to validate herself.
But why isn't that logic connecting for the leftists, feminists, or normie women who put more thought into Real Housewives episodes than their own thought processes?
Because their end goal is different from sex.
As I was going through the outrage posts about Gillis on X, one post came up that proves my point completely. It's a streamer named Rachel, and she posted a picture of herself with the caption, "Let women wear whatever they want. Wearing gym shorts does not make us whores. We love strong women." The picture, which I'll link to but not post, features the girl taking a selfie while turned so you can clearly see her butt, which is practically saran-wrapped in blue spandex to the point where you don't really need to gas up your imagination too much to visualize it bare.
Her caption gives the game away. She doesn't see her effectively mooning the camera with her shorts on as exposing herself. She sees it as empowering. She equates it to strength. What she's seeing in her selfie isn't her butt exposed to the world; she sees self-confidence and body positivity. She sees pride in herself. Her butt isn't a butt; it's a token of self-esteem!
Do you see the underlying issue here?
It's still her butt, and her butt is a sexual object whether she wants it to be or not. Saying "I'm not doing this for the male gaze" doesn't stop natural programming. The male psyche won't hear "this is because I'm a strong woman with high self-esteem" and his brain respond with, "Oh, my apologies. I'll stop seeing this body part that indicates health, child-bearing potential, and sensuality as something sexual and look at it more like a social concept."
It is sexual, and the female part of the brain that loves validation and attention knows it's sexual, and that this sexual object is the fastest and most assured way to get the validation and attention she wants. She's not showing off her arms. She's showing her legs, but only in the way that they can be displayed while turned so that her butt can be the star of the show. The sexual object is the focus.
Two brutal truths about the modern era need to be understood: We live in an attention economy, and sex sells.
She gets the attention, which may or may not result in money but will always result in validation, and she sells sex to do it, even if she has no intention of engaging in a sexual act. She (meaning many modern women) sees this distinction as the thing that exempts her from "dressing like a whore," and allows her to take offense at the mere suggestion that she's exposing herself like one of those whores. In fact, she can now claim she's the victim of "misogyny" and can curse the "male gaze" for trying to oppress her strength and self-esteem. She's under attack, you see!
She wants you to look because it makes her feel better about herself when you do. She also wants to get mad at you for looking because she's not a sex object, but a victim of sexism.
If you live in that kind of cognitive dissonance for a while, you only get angrier and stupider, and nothing fosters anger quite like stupidity. Thus, we see why the Left is so angry, but doesn't understand why it's angry.
