The Left Found Their Platner Replacement, and I Can't Decide If It's the Best Decision or the Worst One

Ah, Graham Platner. My favorite Democrat right now.

Why? Because he represents everything about the Democrats. Hypocritical to the extreme, and despite all the heinous things he actually supports and takes part in, Democrats didn't care... until he became a liability, that is. After that, it was just the ol' go-to of a rape accusation against him by a Democrat to have him step down so that they can hopefully replace him with someone who can win against Susan Collins.

They aren't exactly spoiled for good choices, but internet denizens did some sleuthing and found their replacement.

According to Polymarket, Rachel Accurso has surged upward as the Platner replacement.

Who is Rachel Accurso?

Famed internet children's entertainer Ms. Rachel. Or, if we're being realistic, the leftist activist who uses entertaining children as a shield to fortify her position against criticism.

As I've written in the past, Accurso is, ultimately, an activist. Yes, she's created an entire empire of children's shows, toys, and appearances on popular children's programs, but she funnels all that attention and goodwill into political activism, namely making Republicans look heartless and horrible towards the children of illegal immigrants:

Her presence on the main stage is a perfect storm of accessing minds through the hearts of people's children. Many see her as "safe" and "educational," but when you start breaking down who she works with and what she does outside her videos, you realize that she's more activist than entertainer.

There comes a point where your political activism begins to wholly overshadow everything else you do. This is true for everyone, and it doesn't matter what your profession is. If your entire life leads people to hear your political viewpoints, then that's what you are. An activist.

But, if by some miracle she did decide to run, her chances wouldn't be half bad. She admittedly has the name recognition, goodwill, and political involvement already. Collins wouldn't be up against a political opponent; she'd be up against a celebrity, and as we've seen in the past, being a celebrity doesn't hurt your chances. You can ask Trump about that. You could ask Spencer Pratt, but his opponent's lack of votes was suddenly erased by a convenient wave of mail-in votes.

But I digress.

Many Democrats know this too, and so, as Polymarket reported, a growing number of Democrats are calling for her to run after they discovered she was born in Biddeford, Maine.

Is this the Democrats' best chance to win the Maine Senate seat?

Yeah, probably.

Will it happen?

Not likely.

Two big issues come with Accurso, and the first is that though she's been seen singing and dancing alongside communist politicians and telling everyone that Gaza is the victim of an unnamed group of bad guys — she'll let other people name them, though — she's a very wealthy woman thanks to her little children's entertainment empire. She has her eight-figure YouTube money printer, a Netflix deal, a line of toys, and who knows what else behind the scenes.

She might be a leftist, but she is a leftist, which usually means she's not about to ditch her wealth for selfless reasons. Moreover, her advocacy is far more effective when she can put on her overalls and headband, pitch her voice up a few octaves, and pretend to be sad as she talks about how awful it is that kids under the Democrat umbrella (today) are being harmed by those mean-old people who oppose Democrat agendas, whoever they might be.

Secondly, this is more of a meme choice than a real one. It worked for Trump because he had the thick skin, drive, and character necessary to go from just being a meme to a full-blown leader of the free world.

Accurso has demonstrated on several occasions that she does not have that level of resilience, sometimes announcing her retreat from social media via song when things get too hot. Should she run for an actual Senate seat, the political activism not commonly talked about will get widespread circulation and destroy both her chances at being a politician and likely put a massive dent in her children's entertainment business.

Things like inviting transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney to be on an episode of her children's show, pushing Pride Month and transgenderism on children via her circle, advocating for universal childcare alongside Zohran Mamdani, and finger-wagging at Christians over how to be good Christians while shedding tears over the plight of children in Gaza and remaining completely silent on the massacre of Israeli ones.

Accurso wouldn't be able to handle the pressure. "Ms. Rachel" wouldn't survive it, at least at her current level of success.

In a way, I want her to run, because I feel like it'd be a "two birds, one stone" moment that would finally expose one of the most successful cons in modern history, but again, Accurso is far more likely to protect her wealth and success than risk it.

Again, she's a leftist. Money and power are everything, and she's got a lot of both.
