There Are Just Some People Who Want War

I'm going to get a theological on you before I get into my point, but I think this is a great example of just how ridiculous humans can get.

The end of the book of Revelation has always confused me, or at least the premillennial view does, because even with Christ present among us in His full glory for 1,000 years, readily available to speak to, and even famous people from the Bible walking among us, sharing their stories, wisdom, and praise of the almighty, there will be people who still do not accept Christ.

When Satan is released for a time after the 1,000 years, he'll work to deceive the nations and even succeed in bringing people to his side despite the fact that Christ is sitting right there. It seemed impossible to me that someone could literally look upon the face of God, their savior and person who loves them more than anyone in the universe, and reject Him in favor of some jackass who thought he knew better than the creator of the universe, said jackass included, about anything.

It's something that made me feel a bit distant from the premillennial view of Revelation, but the more I work in this industry of cultural and societal commentary, and become something of a watcher of people, I'm not so sure. Even the disciples doubted and had fear. The same people who witnessed Christ's miracles called for his crucifixion.

The human ego is a wonder. We can see the proof of something right in front of us, and if we truly don't want to believe the proof because we have some preconceived notion we want to hold on tightly to, we will. We will deny our own eyes to comfort our own pride, fears, or feed our own spite.

Like many of you, you've probably seen an inordinate number of stories about how the murder of Charlie Kirk has elated people to no end. They openly celebrate the fact that two children will grow up without their father, and a wife is now widowed. They even wonder if the wife can be killed off, too. They want the children put into a foster home that will keep them far from the ideas that Charlie espoused. They even ask if others can be next.

You sit and wonder how we can live alongside these people. The brutal truth is, we can't.

These people are at war with us, and by "us," I don't just mean conservatives or Republicans. I don't just mean capitalists or Christians. I mean, these people are at war with civilization and anyone who wants to improve and uphold it. They're angry, rage-filled people who are addicted to hate and spite. The kindest of people can try to use reason and logic to help them see their error, but their response will be to shut them out in any way possible, whether it's screaming at the top of their lungs at them while they speak, or harming them physically. These are the same people who murdered Charlie, and these are the same people who now call for even more blood to be spilled.

These are the people who would deny Christ if He were standing right in front of them. These are the people you are at war with.

But they don't constitute the majority of people who aren't on the right. I'd even go so far as to say they don't make up the majority of the left.

When it comes to leftism, I think many find themselves there because the culture pushed them there. They hear messages all their lives from movies, television, rock bands, magazines, influencers, professors and teachers, and even misappropriated and decontextualized Bible verses. It was really up until recently that the right had any presence on what I call "the big stage," and for a very long time, it was just Rush Limbaugh vs. the rest of the media. Even with Fox News introducing right-leaning views into the public space, it wasn't until Elon Musk bought Twitter that we truly saw a balancing start to occur.

Leftism was the default state for many people, and created what I called the "non-practicing leftist." They pulled the lever for Democrats because that's just what people did, and thanks to an avalanche of propaganda, they felt like they were right to do so.

But as Charlie proved, many of these people weren't evil or hateful. They were misled, and Charlie gave them a different view or perspective that they weren't privy to before that.

Let me give you a very good example.

New York is very close to electing Zohran Mamdani, a communist sympathizing radical leftist who is so popular among the media and the intelligentsia that many New Yorkers support him without knowing much about him. The moment they're given deeper info about him, they become uneasy about voting for him. Watch this video below, and you'll see what I mean.

These people aren't lost, they just need information, and that information has been withheld from them for so long that they've fallen into voting habits they wouldn't be comfortable with if they knew what it was they were actually voting for.

Charlie was very good at this, and that's why his crowds on college campuses went from almost no one to thousands of people in attendance. He didn't just give people the bravery to be openly conservative; he gave them the bridge to walk to it when they were put on the other side long ago, and in the midst of ongoing influence.

These people you are not at war with. These people need you. They're lost, and probably a little afraid of peer pressure and the reluctance to go against popular culture. Being a social pariah is a very scary prospect for a lot of people, but knowing there are others out there goes a long way. That's the environment Charlie created, and that we should foster.

I think this is a very important thing to distinguish because, in the anger and grief that we feel from Charlie's murder, something like an ideological war has been declared. I think this is a good thing. Hard lines should be drawn, and crossing those lines should have consequences.

But I think we shouldn't lose sight of the fact that Charlie's work wasn't to "own the libs," or at least, that wasn't his ultimate goal. His goal was to open eyes and hearts, and change minds. More important than fighting the war is that goal. First and foremost.
