Democrats Can't Downplay the '8647' Symbolism

It wasn't that long ago that Tenacious D, the band consisting of Jack Black and Kyle Gass, were on stage celebrating Gass's birthday. When Gass was told to make a wish, Gass said into the microphone, "Don't miss Trump next time."

This was hours after the infamous Butler, PA, assassination attempt on then-presidential candidate Donald Trump. The sentiment through a large portion of the left was disappointment and anger that the shooter missed, and it really revealed just how far the left was willing to go in order to prevent Trump from taking over.

They would continue to reiterate that wish in various ways.

Fast-forward to today, and there's a number sequence being thrown around the left, "8647," which combines 86 (to get rid of or cancel) with 47 (Trump's presidential order number), effectively stating the message "Get rid of Trump." The numbers became so popular among the left that former FBI director James Comey claimed he came across it while on a beach walk and took a photo of it that he then posted to Instagram.

Once it was made clear that it intoned violence, Comey deleted it, saying he didn't realize people were making it about assassinating Trump. It's something that DNI director Tulsi Gabbard isn't buying, and for which she wants Comey investigated.

Some people think Gabbard is going a bit far, but I'm not so sure. I think Comey might be out of touch enough to not understand the left's new favorite way of expressing their desire to murder a sitting Republican president, but the man also runs in these circles, so his knowing what it meant was probably more likely than others.

Moreover, as a former FBI director who watched people try to kill the man twice, I have a hard time thinking Comey wouldn't have understood the potential significance alone and not made a comment.

Which brings me to my main point.

The two assassination attempts aside, the left hasn't exactly made their desire to murder Trump a secret. In fact, they've been rather loud about it. As I wrote back in April, the violent left is no longer on the fringe. It's an agreed-upon tactic by quite a few of them. The internet is filthy with people on social media insinuating that Trump should bite the bullet.

According to a Rutgers poll, 55 percent of Democrats stated it would be "somewhat justified" to murder Trump.

There is an assassination culture on the left. You can see them cheering for it, with people like Luigi Mangione being heralded as a hero for his alleged murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Many on the left see murder as a legitimate form of problem-solving, or at the very least, a moral good against something they perceive as evil.

As I wrote earlier this week, the pro-assassination culture on the left is so prevalent that you had late-night hosts making jokes about it, and a lot of it comes down to thinking that the murder of someone like Trump is a moral good:

Regardless, he was of the "evil class" and part of an industry that commits a lot of evil, so his death was a moral good in their eyes. Mangione is a hero in their eyes, and this is reinforced by things like Jimmy Kimmel talking about how his staff are fawning all over Mangione live on air

They don't see that what they're advocating for is inherently evil because they've been told repeatedly that evil is what they're standing against. They've been assured time and again that anyone with an R next to their name is just a Hitler-in-waiting, and that anything or anyone that assists their cause is aiming to destroy civilization as we know it.

So when people start posting "8647," it's definitely something that has to be assumed to mean violence. Even if some people posting it don't mean it that way, it can only be assumed that 55 percent of the people who are absolutely do. It's sad we live in a world where that's the case, but that's how far the left has sunk, and not only have they made it clear through their words, a couple have made it clear through their actions.

Moreover, too many at the top on the left have made it clear through their silence.
