The DNC Is on the Verge of Civil War As Chair Ken Martin Warns Vice Chair David Hogg to Knock It Off

Vice Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, David Hogg, has been on something of a journey to radicalize his party. It's a trend within the Democrat Party right now, as voters have indicated by a majority that they'd like to see the party lean even further left.

How they got to that conclusion after the walloping they got in 2024 is anyone's guess, but Hogg seems to be in agreement that the reason they lost is that they weren't radical enough.

As RedState's been covering, Hogg has been threatening to primary Democrats who don't get fully on board with this shift further to the left. He created a group called "Leaders We Deserve," to which he committed $20 million.

This has created some serious divisions within the party itself, with strategists like James Carville angrily lashing out at Hogg for splitting the Democrats in such a way and suggesting the "contemptible little twerp" should be sued.

But now it seems the Chair of the DNC is stepping in and laying down an ultimatum to Hogg: Cut it out, or get out.

According to Fox News, DNC Chair Ken Martin was largely complimentary of Hogg, but isn't going to just sit by and let him divide the party over his own personal beliefs:

"I have great respect for David Hogg. I think he's an amazing young leader who's done so much already to help move our movement forward," Martin said.

But the DNC chair added that while he understands what Hogg is trying to do, "I've said to him, if you want to challenge incumbents, you're more than free to do that, but just not as an officer of the DNC, because our job is to be neutral arbiters. We can't be both the referee and also the player at the same time."

"It's important for us to maintain the trust that we have built with Democratic voters and to keep our thumb off the scale as party officers," Martin added.

However, Hogg believes he's not doing anything wrong. As he posted to X, he believes that everything he's doing is well in line with his duties.

"The role of the DNC is to set the Presidential primary calendar, set the Presidential debate schedule, to help strengthen our state parties, play a key role in building our data infrastructure for the party, and to be the campaign in waiting for whoever the next Democratic nominee is. Nothing I'm doing is at odds with any of that," Hogg said.

The question of who is actually going to come out on top within the DNC is actually up in the air. The polling that indicates the party wants to move further left is going to create a bit of complication for the DNC, and ultimately, a radical shift may happen regardless of their attempts to stop Hogg. If that does happen, then it's likely that the party will actually fall further into irrelevance as the American people have rejected that level of leftism as indicated by the 2024 election.

If the DNC wants to arrest its fall, it's going to have to resist Hogg with all its might and try to win moderates back to the party that have drifted into Republican camps. The trouble is, the radicals have all the momentum on their side due to the hole left by the wayward moderates, so how Martin gets his party back under control is going to be a puzzle he'll have to solve.
