The Democrats Are in Chaos and the Republicans Need to Start Taking Advantage Now

"In the midst of chaos, there is also opportunity." - Sun Tzu

Sun Tzu was a smart guy who had a lot of really good ideas about how to wage war, and the book can be applied to quite a few other things, from business to politics.

And it's the latter subject that I feel could really use the ol' Tzu treatment.

As I wrote earlier Tuesday, the Democrat Party is currently drowning in chaos. As Politico had put into their title, the Democrats are in the midst of a "full-blown freakout" over the 2024 Presidential election.

(READ: The Democrats Are a Cornered Animal)

This tells me two things. One very obvious thing and one thing they'd rather you not pick up on.

The very obvious thing is that President Joe Biden is so bad that they could hardly limp to the proverbial barn with him. Only one poll has him beating Trump in November and that one poll only has him one point up. He's consistently embarrassing, can't string a single sentence together without stumbling or mumbling, and his approval rating is in the trash.

What they'd rather you not notice about their little freak out is that this means they don't have too much confidence in the New York case against Trump going their way either. As such, Democrats are on edge. They're openly turning on Biden, and those who aren't are only turning on him privately.

Sun Tzu says this is the moment to strike, and Republicans should bring their forces to bear, send the cavalry charging down the hill with the sun at their backs, and drive the Democrats into the river...figuratively speaking.

How? There are a few ways, some of which are already being done by the RNC because apparently Lara Trump has read the book and understands the assignment.

Firstly, Republicans need to start exploiting the division in the Democrat Party by utilizing social media to highlight just how internally divided it is, how the adults are not in charge, and how this chaos is plunging the country into chaos.

The X account "RNC Research," which is controlled by the RNC, does this very well, but this needs to be picked up by every elected official. They need to have a real Thomas Massie approach to utilizing the internet to get the message out. If I was the RNC, I'd be teaching lessons to politicians and staffers on the Massie method.

Secondly, Republicans need to start highlighting how their policies are going to work to fix the problem Democrats started. I mean, break it down like everyone is five years old with graphics and pictures and put all that stuff on social media and television. The Democrats ran on the fact that they were the "not-Trump" party in 2020. Republicans should return the favor and highlight how they're not the Democrats, and explaining how policies will get people out of this mess in simple terms will go a long way. Not because people are stupid, but because most people are confused and don't spend a lot of time thinking about this stuff.

Start with economic policies, then border policies, and work their way down the list of things polled as important from there.

Third, get out there and start getting grassroots with it. This is something that the RNC is doing already and to great effect. Utilizing the talents of Scott Presler has been stupendous.

Presler understands that all politics is local. It's face-to-face interactions that work to great effect, and we definitely need more of those. The Republican Party should make sure Presler's work is learned by an army and the Party should send that army out.

Fourth, fundraise, fundraise, fundraise. A no-brainer, but very important.

Again, the RNC is doing this to great effect already. Lara Trump took the RNC's coffers from $10.6 million in February to $76 million in April, and I'm sure the moment Trump beats his legal challenge in New York, that number will surge even more.

Still, I predicted a while back that the RNC's bank account would swell once Trump was named the primary winner but I think this could be taken further. The RNC should lean into the fact that Democrats are on the run but, as I wrote earlier, this doesn't stop them from being dangerous. They're a cornered animal now, and who knows how they'll lash out. The RNC needs to be ready to tackle any complication.

The Fifth point encompasses all of the previous ones. All politics is local. I fear that Trump being front and center has taken a lot of the steam out of that in terms of messaging for more focused campaigns.

Target like mad. Tailor-make memes, videos, and graphics for people to see in the areas where these battles are the toughest. I'm talking about getting media in front of groups within groups. If the Hispanic community in an Arizona area wavering between a Republican or a Democrat, make a quick video specifically for them. Black, Asian, gay, it doesn't matter. Find out what their concerns are and address them directly.

One thing the right has in spades is internet meme makers. Use them. Pay locals for working on a graphic, approve it, and let it fly in that area.

These are just five ways to take advantage of the left's current state of disaster, but it needs to start happening now. Faster than now. It needs to happen yesterday.

For the first time, I actually have faith in the RNC and hope that it can actually get these things done. The fact that some of it already is gives me hope, but as things ramp up, we're going to need more.
