Leftist University Students Need to Be Reminded About Who Is In Charge Here

On Thursday, I wrote how it was completely justified for Texas Governor Greg Abbott to utilize police to stop the pro-Hamas protesters at the University of Texas.

The justification was pretty obvious despite some on the right declaring it was an attack on free speech that was being pardoned because it was being done by a Republican governor. These people weren't practicing free speech, they were actively shutting down parts of the campus and forbidding students from going to and fro based on their race and religion.

They're being referred to as "protests" by many, but I see them more as uprisings in their infancy. Abbott was right to quell it with force as force is what this kind of uprising deserves. These people need to be taught that while blue states might be stupid enough to allow this kind of thing to happen, it's not happening in Texas. Here, we see what's happening for what it is, not what the students tell themselves it is.

Sometimes reality needs to come crashing through for civilization to stay afloat.

Recently, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis also began taking action, noting that any student who does anything like what was seen in Columbia at a Florida University will be expelled.

This is the correct attitude from a Republican politician and one that needs to be echoed. For good reason, too.

It's civilization staying afloat that should concern most people about these demonstrations. University campuses are, for some reason, still the place where value is placed on someone based on their degree by many companies. The entitlement mentality stays with them long after they graduate and it infects the corporate world.

To highlight how damaging this has been to our society as a whole, I'll take you back a decade.

Back in 2014, I can remember watching as college-aged students on the then-popular site Tumblr complained endlessly about the inherent racism of Disney movies and their lack of representation. At the time, they were complaining about how "Frozen" was too white.

At the time, a part of me did what everybody else was doing and said they would get a shock when they entered the real world and had to deal with life not operating like a university campus. However, a part of me saw what was happening in the entertainment sector with many companies beginning to turn more toward a social justice bent. Sure enough, fast forward to today and these same people who were complaining on Tumblr are now going around ruining everything in the corporate world with DEI policies and social justice initiatives.

These people weren't just being trained to be young activists on university campuses, they were being groomed to be mind virus carriers that would infect any place they worked at. They succeeded. The infection is nearly overtaking everything.

It's a dish that comes with a recipe made up mostly of entitlement. Listen to many of the creatives behind some of the most egregious remakes and reboots of movies and television shows today and you'll see that they're making these movies for "modern audiences" but in truth, there is no modern audience. These are usually vanity projects that contain a lot of self-inserts focusing mostly on political idealism.

A large part of stopping the social justice takeover of our culture is to stop it at the source, and that source is the university campus. A rework of how these systems function is necessary if we're to truly begin turning things around.

For instance, states should work to come down harder on Universities that actively work to give birth to activists. This means divestment, campaigns to cease donations from alumni, elimination of tax breaks, and fines that truly hurt the University if it ever creates political activists intentionally.

This would all play into tempering the University culture which, at this time, seems like a free-for-all for radical ideologues. The ultimate goal is to bring the university culture back to a place where it becomes more careful about the teachers it hires and that it focuses on teaching students how to think, not what to think.

Of course, this won't happen in blue states but it should definitely happen in red states. Republicans need to begin reigning in the disease that is the university campus and teaching them that the real boss here isn't them and their radical wishes but the people and the American society that needs them to grow up to be free-thinking, wise, and knowledgable adults, not brainwashed activists.
