There are some things I’ll never understand, and one of those was the government’s financial attachment to Planned Parenthood. The organization would get somewhere around $500 million annually from the federal government, or more accurately, us the taxpayer.
According to Life News, over the course of a three-year period, our own government gave up over a $1 billion to abortion providers, effectively making American taxpayers complicit in an act a good deal of them want nothing to do with:
In 2019, pro-life Reps. Vicky Hartzler (R-MO), Pete Olson (R-TX), and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) led over 120 House and Senate Members in a letter to the Government Accountability Office (GAO) requesting data on federal taxpayer dollars received by pro-abortion groups. Last week, the GAO issued the report that covers a three year period, from fiscal years 2016-2018.
Requested by pro-life members of Congress to expose how pervasive its taxpayer funding is, the GAO report indicates pro-abortion groups Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), Marie Stopes International (MSI) and International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) received a massive amount of American tax dollars.
In total, the pro-abortion groups received $1.8 billion in taxpayer dollars over the three-year period.
By the time President Donald Trump had his way with the abortion industry, the amount being given to abortion clinics was far less at $107 million, but that’s still over $100 million taxpayer dollars being used to kill babies.

Now with Roe overturned, various companies have already launched into action to fill in the void. States all over the country are refusing to take part in the wanton killing of innocent children but there are some states still out there that are good with it. Companies like Dick’s Sporting Goods, Disney, and even Tesla have announced that they will provide monetary compensation for travel, with Dick’s offering up to $4000.
I’ll tackle the stupidity of this move in a different article because I want to make a separate point first.
I’m pleased that corporations are coming forward to do this because it’s proof positive that when it comes to getting abortions, we don’t need to fund them. Its believers can do that themselves. Abortion has no need at all to rely on funding from taxpayers to survive. A state can simply make it legal, a clinic can provide it in that state, and Mickey Mouse can pay to have his customer base murdered there.
Looking at it from a business perspective, having corporations pay for it was always the smarter option. Maternity leave is pretty expensive. It would be better for a company to shell out a few grand to have the baby killed so employee #4543 can get back to work immediately.
This leads me to my next point. The corporations doing this aren’t doing this because they care. They’re doing it because maternity leave costs a lot of time and money, and it’s cheaper to just shell out a few grand and save on costs. That way, employee #4567 can get right back to work without too much trouble.
Moreover, sapping the government’s funding of abortions opens up opportunities to put that money where it could really do some good. Beefing up the nation’s foster care and adoption programs to be more efficient would be one hell of a good start. I have no doubt in my mind that with abortion off the table, more kids than ever will find their way into these programs.
All in all, I don’t see abortion completely disappearing from this country any time soon. Some states are going to provide it, but let it be known that this isn’t an industry that should be funded by you and me. It should be funded by those who support it. Corporations providing this funding are proof.
Leave the rest of us out of it.
