Even just a little over a year ago, corporations would shudder at the idea of making any part of the leftist community angry with it. The moment any activist reared their heads, or an online mob would form, corporations would immediately move to prostrate themselves before the offended and vow to make amends and do better in the future.
This was great news to the left, who would then use that as an opportunity to push hiring practices on the corporation that would put members of this activist community on the inside. Before you knew it, the corporation itself was a woke mess of nonsense that people want nothing to do with it. After getting woke, it subsequently goes broke. It’s a story as common as the day following night.
It’s that kind of intimidation and destruction, or what became known as “cancel culture” that began earning the ire of the general public. People couldn’t say or do anything without offending someone and even if you didn’t do anything offensive, you could just be unlucky enough to have your life destroyed for simply saying something the mob disagreed with at the moment.
The public started pushing back slowly but surely, and before you knew it there was a full-on rebellion in many circles of society. People took to social media to denounce and debate these social tyrants. It took some time before real headway was made, but as the rebellion gained ground against the mainstream, others from the mainstream began joining in on the denunciation.
Fast forward to today and the risks that were taken by those willing to stand up to the bullies have paid off. The corporations that would once crumple like cheap suits if the left even looked at them funny are now telling them that if they don’t like what they’re doing then they can kick rocks.
As RedState has reported, two instance of this can be seen.
Sony is now on record as rejecting the attempted wokeness forced upon them by leftist journalists. When asked if they would be taking a stance for Roe v Wade, Sony Playstation CEO replied with this:
“We owe it to each other and to PlayStation’s millions of users to respect differences of opinion among everyone in our internal and external communities. Respect does not equal agreement. But it is fundamental to who we are as a company and as a valued global brand.”
Not long ago, this would have been unheard of. To say they respect both sides and don’t wish to take one is to send the mob after you…but Sony clearly doesn’t care. They learned the mob is more bark than bite, and moreover, the thing doing the barking isn’t even that big.
We also have a company that was saturated in wokeness, Netflix, tell their leftist employees that if they don’t like working on projects that don’t cater to their ideological sensibilities then they can take a hike:
“If you’d find it hard to support our content breadth, Netflix may not be the best place for you,” the memo states, later adding that employees may be required to work on projects that they “perceive to be harmful” and that if they have a hard time accepting their work assignment, they might want to consider working somewhere else.

“Entertaining the world is an amazing opportunity and also a challenge because viewers have very different tastes and points of view. So we offer a wide variety of TV shows and movies, some of which can be provocative,” the new section reads, later adding, “we support the artistic expression of the creators we choose to work with” and that “we let viewers decide what’s appropriate for them, versus having Netflix censor specific artists or voices.”
This is the end result of several things. For one, they’ve learned not to fear the threats of a leftist activist community. They’re toothless.
Moreover, it doesn’t pay to get woke. The bottom line will only suffer as customers reject the product or the company for their efforts.
Most importantly, it signals a change in the attitude of the west toward the social justice community. It’s been a long tunnel, but it seems we’re finally seeing the light at the end of it.
