Curse the Activists, Not the Brand

CNN, once synonymous with the term news, has become more or less associated with the term “propaganda.” Its inability to report on anything without delivering some sort of leftist slant has taken the red-letter logo from household fame to national infamy. Your chances of seeing the channel in action aren’t good unless you’re in certain airports.

This is no April Fools’ joke…but according to statistics, you’re more likely to run into someone who considers themselves Wiccan than run into an actual avid CNN viewer.

By the way, that poll was taken back in 2019 and things have gotten so much worse since then.

When you’re a mainstream media outlet and witches are outnumbering your viewers, it’s time to take a long hard look in the mirror and start to really ponder how you can turn your sinking ship around. To be sure, with CNN’s parent company WarnerMedia being merged with Discovery and a new president coming in, CNN may begin to see itself get out of the ditch Jeff Zucker drove it into.

The kneejerk reaction would be to say that people hope it never recovers and forever will it live in the dark, a once-great network brought down by its radical leftist hubris.

The thing is, I wouldn’t blame people for feeling that way. Zucker’s CNN made others out of regular Americans for years. Attacks, lies, and corruption seeped out of CNN and poisoned Americans against one another, and polluted our culture for a long, long time. Wanting to burn down the complex and salt the Earth beneath it is wholly understandable.

But let’s think about this for just a moment.

How much better would it be if CNN became the example of how to walk a business back from the failure of woke-ism? How much better would it be if we had another news network capable of actually reporting the news as it is, not how a political party wants it to be?

I hope CNN succeeds.

Hear me out.

We live in an era where corporations of all sizes have been absolutely convinced that if they’re going to stay afloat they have to cave to the leftist activists that roam their halls and loudly make demands while threatening punishments if they aren’t met. CNN is a radical leftist organization that will literally stand in front of burning cities and declares the leftist riot that lit them on fire is “mostly peaceful.”

If CNN can walk itself back from that to reporting actual news and people begin to watch it again as a result, then other corporations will have inspiration. They will note that their resorting to wokeness broke them in two but that coming back is possible. They’ll be much braver when it comes to ditching the leftist politics that harmed them and getting back to doing what they were supposed to do in the first place, be it selling razors, sporting goods, making children’s movies, and more.

CNN of all properties can be the real sign that the age of woke politics is over, and that all a business has to do is not adhere to the activists that plague us all today.

It’s always better to seize the enemy’s assets and use them against them than destroy them. CNN is not going to just disappear. Its doors aren’t just going to close forever. The same can be said of all the other corporations that are too big to just go away at this point. The best-case scenario is the company walking itself back and doing what it’s supposed to in the first place.

Again, I hope CNN succeeds in this. The brand can still be useful, it’s the activists that have to go.
