Ted Cruz Lays Down Hard Truths About the Biden Administration and Its ‘War on Energy’

As the energy crisis ramps up, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, like many of us, is fuming over the fact that this doesn’t have to be happening in the first place.

During a Fox News Digital interview on Tuesday, Cruz laid down some hard facts about the Biden administration, chief among them is that the Democrats in the White House are leading a “war on energy” that has brought us from bad to worse in just a short period of time. More accurately, this war is on domestic energy and the Biden administration seems to have no qualms about buying oil from our enemies.

“They could solve it themselves, and I have recently introduced legislation that would restore American energy independence,” Cruz said. “Instead of taking those options, they want to purchase oil from places like Iran and Venezuela.”

“They would rather fund terrorism and the worst regimes on the planet,” Cruz continued. “It’s appalling.”

Before announcing they would stop importing oil from Russia, the Biden administration was buying 500,000 barrels of oil a day, even during the attack on Ukraine. With this ban on importing oil from our enemy (the right move), the Biden administration has effectively condemned Americans to far higher gas prices as he has, from day one, making it highly difficult to drill for oil and achieve energy independence within the states (the wrong move).

On Friday, Cruz introduced the “Energy Freedom Act,” a bill meant to help America achieve energy independence and make it an oil exporter instead of an importer. In a statement he posted on his site, Cruz lambasted the Biden administration for effectively making the United States a funder in our enemy’s wars on others and our own country:

“In the past year with Joe Biden as president, the United States has lost its status as a net petroleum exporter, after achieving that goal in 2019 for the first time since 1949. Why? Because on day one of his administration, President Biden issued illegal and hostile orders aimed at American oil and gas producers, which have increased energy prices and directed profits to other oil exporting countries.

“These policies have poured billions of dollars into countries such as Russia and Iran, which use those funds to attack our allies and undermine the national security of America. President Biden has imposed more restrictions on U.S. oil companies than he has on Russian oil. With Iran, he has looked the other way as the regime busted through sanctions and raised their exports to more than one million barrels per day for the first time in almost three years.

Cruz said the bill would cost taxpayers nothing but would begin bringing in billions for the country. On top of that, the bill would create new jobs and lower energy costs. He also noted that the United States has a far cleaner energy production process, making our fuel better for the environment.

The bill will likely find little help in the Senate’s current state, but the midterms are approaching and Republicans are expected to make large gains.
