Ayanna Pressley's Financial Disclosures Makes Her "Cancel Rent" Campaign Blow up in Her Face

Massachusetts Rep. and squad member Ayanna Pressley, has been declaring that rent must be canceled because the COVID-19 pandemic has hit families hard and not everyone can pay it. In fact, she’s been the foremost advocate of canceling rent during the pandemic.

“We must cancel rent, extend eviction and foreclosure moratoriums, provide rental assistance, and offer legal representation for those at risk of eviction,” she said, going on to call it “a public health emergency.”

She even went so far as to become that person in the room.

A constant rule you’ll find with leftist activists is that if they campaign for something with any kind of ferocity if you dig deep enough you’ll find an entire treasure trove of hypocrisy. The same was absolutely true of Pressley, who apparently has disclosed that she’s got thousands of dollars worth of income from rent payments.

According to Fox News, during the height of pandemic lockdowns, Pressley disclosed finances that included thousands of dollars in rent from a property in her state:

Pressley’s 2020 financial disclosure, filed on Friday, disclosed between $5,000 and $15,000 in rental income from a Boston property in her husband’s name. The property was converted into a multi-family apartment after it was purchased, according to Pressley’s disclosure.

Pressley’s office did not immediately return Fox News’ request for comment on whether she and her husband canceled rent for their tenants at any point in 2020. She disclosed the same range of rental income – between $5,000 and $15,000 – in 2020 as she did in 2019, before the pandemic began.

The brutal truth is the same truth you find when it comes to anyone on the hard left. If they’re passionate about opposing it, they’re likely one of the people doing it. Pressley’s pet issue is rather ridiculous at best, unsustainable at worst. While she may be saving tenants some cash during a hard time, she’d effectively be screwing over property owners who use that money to upkeep their properties. Without it, properties would fall into disrepair, making the place unlivable anyway.

But it’s likely that Pressley knows this. Her goal was never to actually help people, it was to get people to vote for her and the Democrat party by winning their hearts and coming off as the party who cares. The squad member likely understands her position could never happen, if it did it would be a bad day for her since it would cost her thousands of dollars, but again, it’s not about the money, it’s about the loyalty it generates.

Pressley is willing to be a hypocrite if it gives her more power.
