Imagine being from a war-torn land where even the most dangerous streets in Chicago seem tame by comparison. Imagine fleeing with your family from that land in order to seek asylum in the most prosperous country in the world to live in opportunity and safety as you’ve never known it. Imagine growing up to become an elected official in that land and bearing first-hand witness to the greatness of that republic, remembering where you came from to where you are now, and knowing full-well that what you’re witnessing is something of a societal miracle.
For most, it’s enough to make you fall to your knees before God and thank him that such a place can exist after witnessing hell on Earth. For most, you would do all that was necessary to protect this miracle from falling and reverting back to the barbarism and savagery of the place your family fled.
But for some, they see this miracle and spit on it. Their old prejudices get in the way and they see nothing but the problems with the miracle they’ve been given. These flaws are exaggerated in their mind until they’re ready to embrace ideas diametrically opposed to that which brought your new home into being. You’ll do anything to destroy it, even if it means turning it into the place your family fled.
And it’s here we find Rep. Ilhan Omar.
Omar decided that the United States and Israel were just like the Taliban. The terrorist group responsible for atrocities on a regular basis in the name of religious extremism.
We must have the same level of accountability and justice for all victims of crimes against humanity.
We have seen unthinkable atrocities committed by the U.S., Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan, and the Taliban.

As my colleague Bonchie reported, this resulted in 12 Democrats writing an open letter demanding that Omar clarify her words. This immediately resulted in people claiming Omar was being targeted because she’s Muslim, including fellow squad member Rashida Tlaib.

New York’s Rep. and head mean girl, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez got into the mix as well, claiming that calling Omar out for her horrendous comparison was putting her in danger.
Pretty sick & tired of the constant vilification, intentional mischaracterization, and public targeting of @IlhanMN coming from our caucus.
They have no concept for the danger they put her in by skipping private conversations & leaping to fueling targeted news cycles around her.

I won’t even go into the number of people who agree with them about this being an attack on Omar. It’s enough to make you want to throw your phone into a lake.
But here we see the very personification of our political system in Omar. She has absolutely no reason to feel the way she does about America. God only knows where she would be if it wasn’t for America and she was forced to stay in the region of her birth which continues to even today to be a place of rape, murder, poverty, and starvation.
She has no appreciation for the people that worked hard to make this country what it is. She even dismisses attacks on her newfound land by extremists whose only mission is to kill the very people who welcomed her into their country and gave her opportunities that many could only think up in their wildest dreams.
Sadly, the only reason she’s in the position that she is because so many have been brainwashed into believing exactly what she believes. Her horrific attitude toward America is a direct result of manipulation by people who were manipulated themselves and there is no snapping them out of it.
At this point, Omar is gone, the issue is that she’s taking so many people with her. She spreads this feeling of being unappreciative about the circumstances in which we find ourselves because she’s too focused on mistakes, mistakes that look like specs of imperfection on a much greater, brilliant picture. She teaches people to think only in shallow terms, victim mentalities, and ignorant grandeur.
I’d like to tell you that AOC is the worst politician in the Democrat party but really, it’s Omar. Omar, who has every reason to love this country, and chooses against all reason to hate it.
