As I wrote several days ago, the Democrat Party is in the middle of a civil war even as Joe Biden tries to project a faux sense of unity. That manifested recently with pointed attacks on Sen. Joe Manchin, a Democrat from West Virginia, pledged to not only not blow up the filibuster, but also to not vote for the “For the People Act” at all (that’s the Democrat’s attempt to federalize things like ballot harvesting and universal, ID-less mail-in voting).

Now, the infighting is really breaking out into the open. Noted anti-Semite Rep. Ilhan Omar recently compared the United States and Israel to Hamas and the Taliban via yet another ridiculous rant about “victims” and supposed “justice.” Omar, when she’s not just being outright antisemitic, often makes false comparisons in order to back door her bigotry into the discourse.

We must have the same level of accountability and justice for all victims of crimes against humanity.

We have seen unthinkable atrocities committed by the U.S., Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan, and the Taliban.

After she put that video out, things got really interesting. A group of House Democrats finally grew a spine and released a statement condemning the remarks and asking for “clarification.”

This is obviously correct. There is no moral comparison between the mistakes of the United States and Israel (there is no perfect nation) and Hamas or the Taliban. To make that comparison is just a weak attempt to mainstream yet more antisemitism from Omar. Also, note that she failed to mention the Palestinian Authority or her own dumpster fire of a home country in Somalia in her original remarks. The ommissions are purposeful because to hold the Palestinians and their major government accountable would be to admit they support genocidal terrorists.

Things didn’t stop there, though. Omar came back with what weak-minded, left-wing ideologues always come back with – claims of bigotry.

To be sure, there’s nothing in the statement condemning here that’s Islamophobic, to the extent that term even has any real meaning at this point. Yet, she’s accusing them of it anyway because doubling down is all Omar knows.

Regardless, while it’s good to see some Democrats finally speak up, I still find the statement in question to be tepid. Why are you asking Omar for clarification when it’s obvious she meant what she said? She’s a gross mix of America-hating and antisemitism and has proven that over and over. If you are going to call her out, then go all the way. Join Republicans and strip her of her committee assignments or at the very least, pass a real resolution that names her directly. If these Democrats aren’t willing to do that, then their words ring hollow.

In the end, I’m happy to see Democrats tear themselves apart. Their coalition is obviously unsustainable and it’s just a matter of time before it collapses completely. Let them fight.
