Actor Seth Rogen’s ongoing spat with Texas Senator Ted Cruz is one of the things he’s talked about constantly with interviewers, and Rogen is only too glad to disrespect Cruz on national television. Cruz, however, isn’t bothered by it at all and knows the reason for Rogen’s obsession.
Rogen appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and when asked about his “feud” with Cruz, Rogen denied there even was one — because “feud” implies they’re on equal ground.
“If someone’s trying to murder someone with a baseball bat and someone’s yelling at that person to stop, is that a feud between the baseball bat- wielder and the person yelling at the baseball bat-wielder? Feud implies two people hitting each other with baseball bats. Ted Cruz is a fascist. He denies the reality of the election. His words caused people to die, and I’m making jokes about it. Is that a feud? I don’t know. To me, it doesn’t seem like a feud. To me, it seems I’m pointing out the fact that he’s a terrible man whose words have resulted in death,” Rogen said, amid some laughter.
In short, Rogen is still pushing the idea that Cruz was responsible for the January 6 riot and that any deaths that came about, as a result, were Cruz’s doing. Oh, and Cruz is a fascist.
This is all demonstrably false, seeing as how it was Cruz who denounced the riots while they were happening and even advocated for participants to be punished under the full extent of the law. The speech the left points to as proof of Cruz’s guilt contained no endorsement of a riot, and the left is being forced to stretch to reach the conclusion that he had anything to do with it.
Rogen can push that narrative all he wants, but at the end of the day, the truth is that his feud with Cruz is doing for him what his movie career is doing less and less, and that’s keep him in some form of relevancy. While Rogen is credited as a producer more and more, his acting parts seem to be falling into shrug-worthy territory.
As a result, Rogen presence on the mainstream stage is increasingly politically-charged, which allows him to stay in headlines as his career no longer puts them in them. With Rogen growing more and more political, it behooves him to glob himself onto one of the most controversial figures in the GOP, and that’s Cruz. As a result, Rogen can’t stop thinking and talking about Cruz…
…and Cruz knows it.
“We know Sen. Cruz is busy fighting to save the country from Biden’s disastrous policies. It’s surprising to see that he’s living rent-free in Seth Rogen’s head at the same time,” a spokesperson for Cruz said, according to Fox News.
It’s not too surprising, really. Various stars on the decline get political in order to keep the spotlight on them in some form. Sometimes, it works and sometimes, it doesn’t. Eminem attempted to constantly bash Donald Trump, in hopes Trump would respond. He never did.
At some point, arguing with Rogen is going to go from fun to a waste of time. Cruz has important things to do that affect the entire country. The most important thing Rogen has to do is try to get Cruz to keep fighting with him. If Cruz decides to cut turn off the spigot, Rogen will fade all the more. If not, it’ll still be fun to watch.
