Everything is racist according to the left and believe it or not, this includes grammar. Writing properly is now considered racist.

According to the Washington Free Beacon, Rutgers’s English department is going to switch up standards in order to stand with Black Lives Matter:

Rutgers University’s English department will change its standards of English instruction in an effort to “stand with and respond” to the Black Lives Matter movement. In an email written by department chairwoman Rebecca Walkowitz, the Graduate Writing Program will emphasize “social justice” and “critical grammar.”

Walkowitz said the department would respond to recent events with “workshops on social justice and writing,” “increasing focus on graduate student life,” and “incorporating ‘critical grammar’ into our pedagogy.” The “critical grammar” approach challenges the standard academic form of the English language in favor of a more inclusive writing experience. The curriculum puts an emphasis on the variability of the English language instead of accuracy.

“This approach challenges the familiar dogma that writing instruction should limit emphasis on grammar/sentence-level issues so as to not put students from multilingual, non-standard ‘academic’ English backgrounds at a disadvantage,” Walkowitz said. “Instead, it encourages students to develop a critical awareness of the variety of choices available to them [with] regard to micro-level issues in order to empower them and equip them to push against biases based on ‘written’ accents.”

Additionally, the department said it will provide more reading to upper-level writing classes on the subjects of racism, sexism, homophobia, and related forms of “systemic discrimination.”

To translate social justice speak into a plain, “racist” English, what they’re saying is that they will now relax standards in order to allow for students to write in the same way they speak. To what extent that will go hasn’t been seen yet but it doesn’t matter. Just giving up an inch with this is giving up miles.

According to the Washington Free Beacon sees this, not as helpful to minority students, but incredibly insulting to their intelligence:

Leonydus Johnson, a speech pathologist and libertarian activist, said the school’s change makes the racist assumption that minorities cannot comprehend traditional English. Johnson called the change “insulting, patronizing, and in itself, extremely racist.”

“The idea that expecting a student to write in grammatically correct sentences is indicative of racial bias is asinine,” Johnson told the Washington Free Beacon. “It’s like these people believe that being non-white is an inherent handicap or learning disability…. That’s racism. It has become very clear to me that those who claim to be ‘anti-racist’ are often the most racist people in this country.”

Johnson is very correct. The purpose for these relaxation on standards is to effectively make it “easier” for students from ethnic backgrounds to pass classes. This is the same as saying that English is too hard for minority students and as such they’ll lower the bar for them.

Why?

Black and Hispanic students aren’t dumb. Making this rule a thing is effectively saying that they are. The soft bigotry of low expectations is still bigotry.

What’s more, this is robbing Rutgers students of proper education. The English language has an established history and a proper form of usage. While we may utilize it in various ways in our speech or casual writing, the rules of language still exist. Teaching students that proper English doesn’t have to be proper English in order to be official is essentially erasing English as a language, at least at Rutgers.

Don’t think that it will stop there, either.

The Free Beacon reported that this decision came from its Committee on Bias Awareness and is part of its efforts to focusing “decolonization.” This will supposedly make the language center more diverse.

It would be one thing if they were teaching students how they popularly speak nowadays derived from the English language, but this isn’t that. They’re effectively wiping out English as an official language at Rutgers.

Something tells me that in this age of Marxist’s rewriting of history, that’s the entire point.
