On Monday, former Reddit CEO Ellen Pao essentially admitted that she and many others openly knew about the sex trafficking, specifically about Ghislaine Maxwell’s hand in it. According to a tweet sent by Pao in response to someone saying she was thankful that she never accidentally had a photo taken with her, Pao explained that she attended a 2011 holiday party for the venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins, where she explained that Maxwell had shown up.

“We knew about her supplying underage girls for sex, but I guess that was fine with the “cool” people who managed to tightly control the guest list,” tweeted Pao.

Pao attempted to walk back what she said, but had added additional commentary to her story to paint her knowledge as more of a suspicion than a confirmed understanding. By that time, she had provided additional commentary which makes that claim that wrecked that narrative. She has since taken her account private.

What Pao is effectively saying her tweets is that while she knew, she wanted to keep her career intact and so said nothing until this moment.

So the question is, how many actually knew if she did at the time? Pao was a low-leveler at that time but still had knowledge about the Epstein sex trade. How did she know? Where did she get that info?

These are questions that need to be asked but for some reason, many in powerful positions are completely banned from talking about it. ABC reporter Amy Robach had her story about Epstein killed by ABC’s higher-ups and we haven’t heard a word about it since. In fact, in response, ABC ended up firing an innocent girl whom they thought leaked the footage of Robach talking about it.

There are still so many unanswered questions and when we try to find them, we’re presented with roadblocks that seem to come from all the way at the top.

Maxwell has been arrested and, according to Fox News, has been transferred to a New York prison. Prosecutors allege that Maxwell facilitated Epstein’s abuse of minors by grooming them for use.

According to Business Insider, the specific party that Pao was referring to had a whole host of powerful people in attendance and many of these apparently had relationships in some shape or form with Epstein and Maxwell:

According to a 2011 Business Insider report, the Kleiner Perkins holiday party that year drew esteemed guests including former Vice President Al Gore, Apple VP of Engineering Mike Abbott, and former HP chairman Ray Lane.

A Kleiner Perkins spokesperson declined to comment.

Epstein and Maxwell have had multiple brushes with Silicon Valley’s elite, many of whom have since declined knowing the full extent of their alleged crimes. Epstein was known to pursue relationships with tech leaders, business owners, and academics at elite universities — in March 2011, he sat down to dinner with a slate of tech billionaires including Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Google cofounder Sergey Brin, Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer, and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

Musk was also photographed with Maxwell at an Oscars afterparty in 2014. Musk claims that he did not know Maxwell and that she “photobombed” him at the time. Epstein, who died by suicide in jail in August 2019 — said in 2018 that he had given advice to Musk. A spokesperson for Musk denied the claim.

Epstein also knew Bill Gates, meeting with the Microsoft founder multiple times following Epstein’s first conviction for sex crimes in 2008. Gates later said he met with Epstein to try to secure funding from Epstein for his charities, calling it a “mistake in judgement.”

While it’s unlikely that every person who came in contact with Epstein participated in Epstein’s criminal services, it’s pretty likely that many, like Pao, didn’t speak up because it wouldn’t benefit them to do so for personal reasons.
