Yes, ABC News Just Wrote a Puff Piece on Antifa Amidst the Riots

Anti-fascist counter-demonstrators cross the Burnside Bridge across the Willamette River from the west side of the city to the east side in search of the far-right group, the Proud Boys, in Portland, Ore., Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019. Self-described anti-fascists vowed to confront the rally while leaders from the far right urged their followers to turn out in large numbers to protest the arrests of multiple members of right-wing groups in the run-up to the event. The media gives us plenty of reasons to distrust it, and quite a few reasons to consider it the bad guy. There are a few things, however, that really make me question whether or not it is for evil. Its constant defense of Antifa is one of those things.

I can understand why the media has an “if it bleeds, it leads” philosophy when it comes to reporting news. Sensationalism attracts eyeballs in the same way a car wreck on the highway rubberizes necks. It’s also a really great source for confirmation bias. If a major news network is agreeing with your point of view, then you’re not alone in believing that President Donald Trump really is trying to kill puppies, and not only that, it must be a valid claim.

But Antifa is a purely evil organization. They always have been terrorists, even before Trump suggested we give them the label. Throughout my time as a writer, I’ve reported on and given my opinion about dozens and dozens of instances and events surrounding the group. Most all of them revolve around them becoming violent and attempting to cause some sort of destruction.

Here are some examples including Antifa’s violence during a protest, its threat to kill border patrol agents, and Steven Crowder when he went undercover and was offered deadly weapons for an upcoming demonstration.

Flip on your television or hit a social media network right now and you may see reports of riots, violence, stores burning, and more. These people are oftentimes dressed in black with faces covered to hide their identities. This is Antifa.

Antifa is known to show up to protests and marches and attempt to escalate the situation with destruction, and eventually violence. They are not, and never have been, good guys.

Yet ABC News just reported on them with an “ANALYSIS” piece about how they’re just normal people.

To be clear, this is a major news network passing opinion off as “analysis” about how a domestic terrorist group is just normal people, but it gets worse. The title of the piece attempts to drag Trump into and make him seem like he’s just crazily calling normal citizens fighting against all the things you hate “terrorists.”

“Donald Trump calls them terrorists, but many Antifa see themselves as ordinary citizens fighting oppression, racism and police brutality,” reads the headline.

And the body of the article doesn’t get much better.

After openly describing Antifa as an organization that resorts to violence, ABC News describes them softly as everyday folks:

Behind the masks, most of the people involved with Antifa who I’ve met are pretty ordinary.

They are mums and dads, blue-collar workers and students, people from different backgrounds who believe they are standing up for the voiceless and marginalised in America at a time when those groups are under threat from people in power — be they police or even the President himself.

One Antifa protestor told me: “There are white nationalists even to the very top levels of our government at this point. They’re everywhere.

“Just because some of them are willing to come out and march, some of them are willing to show their faces, some of them aren’t. Some of them dress in three-piece suits every day and play golf.”

Can you believe Trump hates these people:

Donald Trump has had a long-held disdain for Antifa.

It was laid bare when a white nationalist drove his car through a group of leftist protestors during a far-right rally in Charlottesville, killing one and injuring many others.

Mr Trump responded by saying there was blame on both sides, equating Antifa with the far right that orchestrated the racist and deadly event.

The claim that Antifa has never killed or tried to kill anyone is untrue.

It should be plainly obvious that if the mainstream media is willing to defend a terrorist group even as we can see them causing terror on our television screens this very moment, then they’re definitely not on your side. Antifa’s Marxist ideology makes anyone to the right of them an enemy worth punishing severely, and everyone is to the right of Antifa.

Antifa is one of the causes of much of the destruction you see of private businesses even now. Again, if ABC News is posting puff pieces about Antifa, you can only imagine where its ideological center lies.
