Tesla CEO Elon Musk has gained quite a few allies in his defiance against the lockdown orders in various states, including his own of California, but it would appear he’s gained one of the most powerful allies he can get at this moment, President Donald Trump.

On Monday, Musk declared that he was opening up his production facilities in California’s Alameda County, disregarding lockdown orders and suggesting that if the authorities come down on him, they should arrest him and him alone.

“Tesla is restarting production today against Alameda County rules. I will be on the line with everyone else. If anyone is arrested, I ask that it only be me,” tweeted Musk.

On Tuesday morning, Trump revealed he’d been watching the situation himself and suggested that California should cave and let Musk resume operations “fast and safely” but resume them “NOW.”

“California should let Tesla & @elonmusk open the plant, NOW. It can be done Fast & Safely!” tweeted Trump.

The importance of having the leader of the free world in your corner can’t be understated, but what makes this such a great thing is that it’s the leader of the free world who actually believes in freedom. Trump has been chomping at the bit to get America back to work and standing by Musk as he literally defies authoritative orders to remain closed is pretty big.

The president is literally siding with defiance of tyrannical authority and I can’t get enough of it.

Musk has yet to respond to Trump, and it’s unknown if he will. I’m pretty sure he appreciates it regardless. Those who despise Trump likely already despise Musk for his talk of Constitutional freedoms and his speaking out against the lockdown orders. At this point, nodding to Trump may not make that much of a difference in terms of the court of public opinion, which Musk seems fully ready to defy anyway.
