Say what you will about Elon Musk, but the guy is on the right track when it comes to his thoughts about what we’re doing to our country with this lockdown. As he made very clear on Texas, he’s astounded by American’s willingness to give freedoms up to the government and wants the country freed right now.

Taking to Twitter, Musk sent out a tweet demanding we “FREE AMERICA NOW.”

This was followed by a response from a user named Melissa who noted that the scariest thing wasn’t the pandemic, but our desire to give up our freedoms for “safety.”

“The scariest thing about this pandemic is not the virus itself, it’s seeing American so easily bow down & give up their blood bought freedom to corrupt politicians who promise them safety,” tweeted Melissa.

This was followed up by a response from Musk who simply tweeted “true.”

This tweet was after he praised Texas for its upcoming plan to open the state up on May 1.

“Bravo Texas!” tweeted the Tesla CEO, linking an article to the Texas Tribune talking about the Friday opening.

This, too, was followed up by someone making a point to Elon about how opening is a smart idea while taking the proper precautions as Texas is.

“If the CFR is as low as the Santa Clara Stanford study (.12%, this one appears to have errors in data analysis and be based on Facebook advertising), or even closer to Iceland (.7% for closed cases), reopening CAREFULLY (with proper social distancing) would be the ethical thing,” tweeted one user to Musk.

“Yes, reopen with care & appropriate protection, but don’t put everyone under de facto house arrest,” responded Musk.

Musk’s comments have met with mixed reception, with many lashing out at the tech CEO for his stance, but unlike many in the spotlight, Musk seems to be one of the few actually changing his mind as new information comes out. This makes him one of the smartest men in silicon valley by default, or at the very least, someone who isn’t going to go along with the Silicon Valley idea that it knows better about everything than anyone else. It’s a sentiment he actually voiced on Twitter on Monday.
