I know that the elected officials in D.C. range from being sensible and professional to absolutely out of their minds insane, and at the end of the insane spectrum is New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Whenever AOC opens her mouth, something that wouldn’t expect to hear out of a grown adult comes out, much less an elected official.

Just to give you a refresher, here are some of the crazy things she said last year alone.

Her latest claim is that capitalism is literally resulting in billionaires becoming more powerful while workers are “literally dying.”

“Well, you didn’t make those widgets, did you?” AOC said. “Because you employed thousands of people and paid them less than a living wage to make those widgets for you. You didn’t make those widgets.”

“You sat on a couch while thousands of people were paid modern-day slave wages, and in some cases real slave, real modern-day slavery, uh, depending on where you are in terms of food production,” she continued. “You made that money off the backs of undocumented people. You made that money off the backs of black and brown people being paid under a living wage.”

“You made that money off the backs of single mothers and all these people who are literally dying because they can’t afford to live and so no one ever makes a billion dollars,” she said. “You take a billion dollars and all of that to say, is that it’s, and I’m not here to villainize and to say that billionaires are inherently morally corrupt – but they are, I mean, I think there is a case, but um, but, it’s not to say that, it’s to say that this system that we live in, life in capitalism, always ends in billionaires. If you don’t do it, someone else will. It’s who decides to make that choice is just kind of up to, you know, circumstance.”

There’s a lot of nonsense there. There aren’t people dying left and right because they can’t afford to live. While there are people in dire straights, starving to death isn’t something that happens in America unless through malicious intent by someone else. While billions are made from those who founded and/or run corporations, that’s not a bad thing, and to think they’re sitting around and doing nothing is also a complete falsehood.

CEO’s don’t laze about letting other people work for them. They’re up early, they work hard making decisions, and taking risks that work to grow the company that could wind up costing it. They have to stay at the top of their game in order to make sure that they don’t make mistakes that may cost not only them but their employees.

AOC has never had to run a company but seems to know all about it. I’m willing to bet that even though she’s been a working-class person in the past, she’s never born witness to one person dying of starvation in her life.

Ocasio-Cortez seems to truly believe what she’s saying, though. She seems to believe that the rich are killing people and that the only way for it to stop is to rob billionaires of their billionaire status.

If she truly does believe it, then that makes her dangerous, especially given the fact that we have people from the Sanders campaign on camera talking about how we need to bring billionaires to the guillotine. I don’t want to put Ocasio-Cortez in the same column as these crazy people, but AOC has failed to denounce violent groups like Antifa in the past after they firebombed law enforcement officers.

The delusion that AOC seems to carry around seems to put her in a position where she aligns with extremists that share it, and her latest claims only make it more worrisome that we have someone in congress who is perfectly willing to side with those who would go to extremes to bring down capitalism.
