California’s Sen. Kamala Harris was a favorite to win the 2020 Democratic primary for a hot minute but soon found herself dropping like a rock in the polls.

The moment it began happening can be pinpointed with some accuracy. It was during the Democratic debate at the end of July, when Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard began highlighting Harris’s horrific criminal justice record, which included longer-than-normal prison sentences for non-violent drug offenders for forced labor.

Harris only compounded the problem by not offering up any kind of defense, and instead settled on a mean-girl response to Gabbard that boiled down to “I’m more popular” during a post-debate interview with Anderson Cooper on CNN.

Once she did that, I think it was pretty clear she knew she was in trouble, too. Why else would you make this face?

That is the face of despondent self-awareness right there.

Harris continued to not help herself by getting the State of California to try to erase her arrest report records quietly. It didn’t work out, and soon the entire world saw that Harris was trying to hide her past from us.

Her support began drying up fast. In fact, the black community virtually all but left her with only a handful of supporters.

I give you this short history lesson because Harris seems to believe that the reason her campaign is now failing is for a wholly different reason than the fact that she’s an obviously corrupt and incompetent politician. In an interview with Axios, Harris told the interviewer that the reason she’s so behind in the polls is because America — being the racist country that it is — isn’t ready for a “woman of color” to be President.

In the interview, Harris points out that America isn’t ready for a woman to be president, much less a woman of color. The interviewer rightly pointed out that we’ve already elected a black man for President, and Harris responded with a story about an old black woman who never thought that Obama would succeed.

I’m not particularly sure how that story was supposed to back up Harris’s point. Obama did win. America was 100 percent okay with a black man as president.

There’s no reason to believe that America wouldn’t get behind a black, Mexican, or Asian woman as President too. I’ve watched as Republicans went gaga over the prospect of Condoleeza Rice as a presidential candidate. It’s not skin color, and it’s definitely not chromosomal makeup either. People have been applauding women running for president for years now.

I personally would love to see Nikki Haley run.

If Harris thinks it’s about sexist racism then I’d like to remind her, as I pointed out above, that even the black community has abandoned her. It’s not about our country being racially sexist, it’s about the fact that everything Harris says and does exposes more of her incompetence and corruption. She comes off as incredibly elitist and she supports radical things that many Americans can’t get behind, like Kathy Tran’s abortion up-to-birth bill.

She’s just unstable, untrustworthy, easily rattled, and kind of weird.

That she’s a black woman has nothing to do with it. She’s just not presidential material.

Also — quick aside — if Democrats want to win the approval of America, they should really stop painting it as a sexist and racist country. I think it’s pretty clear that it’s not, and adherence to critical theory has driven them to see monsters where there are actually windmills.
