Colbert and Clinton Obsess Over Trump on Late Show, Chant "Lock Him Up" and Talk About Hitting Him in the Mouth

It was a night of “lock him up” chants and relentless “orange man bad” sentiment on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night as both Hillary and Chelsea Clinton appeared on the show.

The Clinton women are releasing a book called “The Book of Gutsy Women,” but before they could begin talking about it, Colbert was already lining up other important topics, such as how bad orange man actually is with all this Ukraine stuff. Clinton was ready to go with the Trump-bashing.

“So, here we are, and we have started an impeachment inquiry, which will look at the evidence, and I think that’s exactly what should be done,” Clinton said. “I believe strongly that this particular incident has had such a huge impact because we’ve known for a long time that he was a corrupt businessman who cheated people, and we’ve known that he and his campaign asked for aid from Russia. We’ve known that. But to see him in the Office of the President, putting his own personal and political interests ahead of the national security of our country, just pierced through whatever confusion or denial people had. And at that point, Speaker Pelosi rightly said this is something we have to investigate. And that’s what’s going on.”

Just a quick reminder, while Trump is no perfect angel, he’s been found innocent when it came to working with Russia, and the position of the left about the phone call to a Ukrainian president has been summed up best by Sen. Lindsey Graham when he called it “insane.”

Colbert made the wild claim that, while he was never a fan of impeachment and would rather rely on the ballot box, Trump is making the ballot box no good. Clinton agreed, saying the founders put impeachment in the rules for people like Trump.

Oddly enough — and no one can fathom why — neither Joe or Hunter Biden’s involvement in this entire affair was brought up. Colbert did, however, ask Chelsea how it feels to have Trump so obsessed with attacking her mother, and asking if she wanted to “slap his mouth.”

Chelsea said she does feel the need to protect her because of what she’s seen at Trump’s rallies.

The interview goes on like this for some time, with Colbert bringing up one leftist media talking about after another. If they had wheeled out a punching bag with Trump’s face on it, it would have saved a lot of time.

For some people who think Trump is obsessed with Clinton, they sure seem obsessed with Trump.

Interestingly enough, having Clinton on put Colbert ahead of the other two late-night hosts in terms of ratings. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon’s numbers combined equaled out to Colbert’s ratings:

In late night, an appearance by Hillary and Chelsea Clinton gave CBS’ Late Show With Stephen Colbert its highest-ever overnight ratings for a Monday show. It drew a 3.2 household rating in metered markets, equaling the combined ratings for Jimmy Kimmel Live (1.7) and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (1.5).

Clinton’s sudden boost in eyes may have a lot to do with rumors floating around that she may announce her candidacy for the 2020 Democratic primary for a second shot at Trump.
