Jussie Smollett angered a lot more people than just the ones he maliciously maligned in order to keep his acting gig.

According to KABC-TV, an L.A. based black civil rights activist and director of Project Islamic HOPE, Najee Ali, is calling for Smollett’s arrest over the false story of his attack at the hands of a couple Trump supporters due to several factors, one being that he could have unintentionally started a race war.

Ali began by saying that the false claim was a “slap in the face” to actual members of the black and LGBT communities who have been victims.

“It’s a slap in the face. We have many members of the black community and the LGBTQ community who have been the victims of racism and hate crimes, so for Smollett to say that he was a victim…and we believe is a lie…certainly is an injustice to those true victims…,” Ali said. “Jussie Smollett must be brought to justice for lying.”

“Also, Smollett could have created a race war,” Ali later added. “There are many African Americans and members of the LGBT community who are very upset and outraged by Smollett claiming he was attacked and victimized. So there was some in those communities who are more extreme.”

“They wanted to retaliate,” said Ali.

Ali stressed that there should be calm and peace.

Smollett was dangerously close to creating a media-driven fury campaign against Trump supporters after he proved willing to press charges on two innocent people, only pulling back when he discovered the two people police were asking him to charge were the two Nigerian brothers he hired to attack him.

This very well may have kickstarted something horrific such as riots or retaliatory attacks fueled in part by the media’s need to sensationalize stories like this one.

As of now, the only people suffering bigoted attacks are those on the right who wear MAGA hats.
