Planned Parenthood has never been shy about trying to reach out to your kids, and now they’ve developed an app that will “educate” them on everything from sexual education to abortion.

According to AdAge, the abortion Goliath released a chatbot app for phones called “Roo,” aimed at teenagers aged 13 to 17:

Planned Parenthood worked with digital shop Work & Co on the strategy, branding, design and development of the chatbot — which began testing last year but officially launches Thursday.

Work & Co worked with teenagers from Bushwick, Brooklyn-based charter high school Math, Engineering, and Science Academy on the project — including on the name “Roo,” which was intended to seem gender-neutral and friendly to the intended audience. The chatbot is designed for 13- to 17-year olds and intends to evolve to answer more questions as more people use it.

The idea was to stop teenagers from going online to various different resources for answers about sex and make “Roo” a one-stop-shop for subjects revolving around everything from puberty to coming out, to abortion.

The creators say that the app was designed to get information to kids who otherwise wouldn’t have this information. Specifically, those kids who are getting abstinence-only education or no sex education at all:

Initiatives like this one are meant to help Planned Parenthood give information to hard-to-reach audiences like teenagers who don’t receive sex education or are receiving abstinence-only education. In recent years Planned Parenthood has been on the offensive about the breadth of resources they provide as conservative lawmakers and anti-abortion groups have sought to defund the organization.

“We know that many young people are nervous or embarrassed to ask questions about their sexual health,” Planned Parenthood Federation of America president Dr. Leana Wen said in a statement. “They often go online to get information and ask their questions anonymously. It’s important that our youth receive a reliable answer they can trust.”

While the concept is an interesting one, not everyone is going to want Planned Parenthood teaching their kid about the birds and the bees. I tried out the app myself and the first question I asked was about abortion. It didn’t say what it involves, though the first thing it did tell me was that it was “legal and safe.”

As you can see, the app didn’t get into the gritty details. For an educational app, it sure leaves out a lot of knowledge.

Planned Parenthood’s plan to help disrupt “abstinence-only education” is also very interesting, as it proves that the abortionist plans to make itself the decision maker on how your child learns about sex, while it should be up to the parent.
