The fact that the left is rife with racism isn’t really up for debate, but it seems that it’s so pervasive because too many leftists don’t have the level of self-awareness necessary to understand that some of the tripe that comes out of their mouths is racist at all.
They get away with it by defining racism as an act that can only occur when one race in power (read: white) oppresses another race (read: anyone who isn’t white) in a society built to benefit that specific (white) color. This means that anyone can stereotype, insult, and generally just be hateful toward any group of people with that specific skin color and it could never be called racist.
To the social justice left, it’s not offensive to be racist if you’re racist to the right people.
So when newly minted Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) tweeted “Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel” back in 2012, it seemed to legitimately confuse her as to why Jewish people would think it offensive.

Omar was asked to explain herself on CNN of all places where she had the tweet read to her by Poppy Harlow.
“I wonder what your message is this morning … to Jewish Americans who find that deeply offensive?” Harlow asked.
Omar’s response?
“Oh, that’s a really regrettable way of expressing that,” Omar responded. “Um, I-I, don’t know how my comments would be offensive to Jewish Americans.”

Racism is alive and well in the Democratic party despite what Nicolle Wallace of MSNBC claims, like she did on Tuesday when she declared that there’s “no strain of racism” on the left. Omar’s comments are just a drop in the bucket of blatantly racist things that have been said from leftist figures. From Louis Farrakhan to CNN’s Don Lemon and more, racism is thriving on the left.
