SHOCKER: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's Campaign Fined for Failing to Provide Worker's Comp Coverage

Remember folks, socialism is for the people, not the socialist.

Apparently, the fresh-faced democratic socialist from New York, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, wants the best government programs and free everything for everyone…except her own staff.

According to The New York Daily News, AOC’s campaign has been fined a hefty sum for not providing the adequate compensation required by New York.

Melissa Stewart, the spokeswoman for New York’s Workers Compensation Board, noted to the Daily News that the Ocasio-Cortez campaign “did not have the required workers’ compensation coverage from March 31, 2018, to April 30, 2018, and was issued a final penalty of $1,500, which was paid.”

“This coverage is vital to ensuring workers are protected for on-the-job injuries,” she added.

As you can imagine, the word “hypocrisy” is now making the rounds, and even one veteran Democrat is admitting that this is not a solid look for the democratic socialist raging consistently about how people aren’t provided for according to the New York Daily News:

One Democratic campaign veteran scoffed that “it’s not a great look” for Ocasio-Cortez that her campaign received a fine for not carrying workers’ compensation coverage.

“This is basic stuff, especially if you hold yourself out to be the champion of workers,” the Dem said.

State Republicans were chortling over the fine.

“Hypocrisy at its finest,” said state GOP spokeswoman Jessica Proud. “The so-called champion of workers, when given her own responsibility, is not following the law. It’s unbelievable.”

Contrary to Proud’s statement, that Ocasio-Cortez is failing to put her money where her mouth is isn’t far out of the realm of believability. The New York Democrat preaches a great game, but when it comes time to put rubber to the road, she seems unwilling to walk the walk.

One great example is Ocasio-Cortez’s much-lauded tweet about lawmakers not receiving pay during the shutdown when so many other federal workers aren’t getting their paychecks.

Of course, when the time came for her to show her true colors, her response to being asked about receiving her paycheck during the shutdown was “I’ve gotta run.”
