New York’s democratic socialist congresswoman and the new Democrat party’s sweetheart, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, doesn’t appreciate the press doing their jobs and fact-checking her.
According to AOC, that’s what the press is supposed to do to President Donald Trump, but as far as her claims go, she feels the press should judge her by her intentions, not the accuracy of her claims.
The young congresswoman took to Twitter to vent her frustrations on Monday, spewing forth outrage that she would be put under the microscope and starting by calling the fact-checking done against her as a “false equivalency+bias” and comparing it to equating scientists and climate deniers.
Facts are facts, America. We should care about getting things right. Yet standards of who gets fact-checked, how often + why are unclear.
This is where false equivalency+bias creeps in, allowing climate deniers to be put on par w/scientists, for example.https://t.co/87c6kVzIuI

Hilariously, much of the climate science Ocasio-Cortez stands by is being challenged by actual scientists and has been thoroughly debunked. Regardless, Ocasio-Cortez clearly isn’t interested in facts, and her outrage revolves around having her claims challenged. As such, she persisted with more tweets.
Her outrage continued by calling the “rubric” used by the Washington Post outrageous as she compares it to the same fact-check results Donald Trump gets, which she apparently finds indignifying
Thank you for sharing @washingtonpost’s rubric!
Except the standard for “4 Pinocchios” just says: “Whoppers.”
That’s it. “Whoppers.” As an official fact checking standard.
Cheeky, but really not okay to be held to a jokey standard when 45 is advancing conspiracy theories. https://t.co/eNw4e8jhIu

She’s also not happy about getting fact-checked as much as Republicans are, such as Sarah Sanders.
For example, it looks like @PolitiFact has fact-checked Sarah Huckabee Sanders and myself the *same* amount of times: 6.
She’s been serving for almost 2 years. I’ve served 4 days.
Why is she fact-checked so little? Is she adhering to some standard we don’t know about?

This is helpful! Thank you.
I do think it is important to point out that there is still admitted discretion: “we select the most newsworthy+significant ones.”
That means no real standard. So it’s still fair to ask why a controversial WH Press Sec is getting let off so easy. https://t.co/VqwzfPoCVI

Ocasio-Cortez apparently rubbed Washington Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler’s nerve a bit raw as he finally tweeted out a correction to the young self-victimizing Democrat, and pointed out that while Trump has been fact-checked 7,645 times, she’s been fact-checked a grand total of twice.
We have fact-checked you twice. We have fact-checked 7,645 Trump claims. –> https://t.co/odthgByvgL

Ocasio-Cortez exhibited some disturbing things in just a series of tweets.
For one, she’s shown that she flat out thinks lying and misinformation are fine so long as it’s in the name of her specific agenda, which she considers morally right. She’s questing for the unobtainable Utopia that socialists typically promise but never achieve. Every communist and socialist before her believed that they could do it correctly, and every single one of them failed catastrophically. Ocasio-Cortez thinks her despotism would be somehow different.
It won’t be.
Secondly, it’s awfully stupid of her to believe the press is victimizing her out of some bias. The Washington Post has clearly demonstrated that its biases lie to the left, but apparently, its fact-checkers think that some whoppers just can’t be ignored. Ocasio-Cortez is making the mistake of believing it’s her against the world, which is, of course, what the social justice left she hails from find power in.
She’s attempting to use her victimization as a way to get people who would question her off her back and knows that she has the power of a mob behind her.
Both of these show a worrying set of behaviors that point to Ocasio-Cortez believing that she should be above everyone else.
