Fox News’s Tucker Carlson is a favorite target of the hard-left. A badge of honor to be sure, but one that comes with its own headaches.

As I reported earlier today, Carlson is currently embroiled in a sea of faux-outrage by the left, which spread like wildfire across left-leaning publications that claimed the Fox News host was spouting pure racism from his show “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

The claim by the hard-left revolves around a single paragraph of Carlson’s monologue about the problems being presented by unfettered mass immigration and used Tijuana, Mexico, residents and their dealings with the homeless migrants as an example of what problems arise.

“It’s obvious that we need more scientists and skilled engineers, but that’s not what we’re getting. Instead, we’re getting waves of people with high school educations or less. Nice people. No one doubts that. But as an economic matter, this is insane. It’s indefensible, so nobody even tries to defend it,” Carlson said on his Fox News show. “Instead, our leaders demand that you shut up and accept this. We have a moral obligation to admit the world’s poor they tell us, even if it makes our own country poorer, dirtier and more divided.”

Activist groups used that last phrase, took it out of context and proceeded to use it to convince Carlson’s sponsors to pull out of the show. Fourteen businesses did just that, including IHOP and Pacific Life.

Other brands continued to hold with Carlson, however, and Fox News likewise stood behind Carlson, noting that the attack on him was being led by left-leaning media outlets who don’t lift a finger against other left-leaning media outlets when they say blatantly bigoted things themselves.

“We cannot and will not allow voices like Tucker Carlson to be censored by agenda-driven intimidation efforts from the likes of Moveon.org, Media Matters and Sleeping Giants. Attempts were made last month to bully and terrorize Tucker and his family at their home,” said Fox News in an official statement. “He is now once again being threatened via Twitter by far-left activist groups with deeply political motives. While we do not advocate boycotts, these same groups never target other broadcasters and operate under a grossly hypocritical double standard given their intolerance to all opposing points of view.”

Carlson also didn’t take the attack lying down and used his show to strike out against the character assassination attempt on Tuesday where he highlighted inconvenient facts that left-leaning outlets and activists groups are trying desperately to avoid:

“And the truth is, unregulated mass immigration has badly hurt this country’s natural landscape,” Carlson said on Monday night. “Take a trip to our southwestern deserts, if you don’t believe it. Thanks to illegal immigration, huge swaths of the region are covered with garbage and waste that degrade the soil and kill wildlife.”

“The Arizona Department of Environment Quality estimates that each illegal border crosser leaves six to eight pounds of trash during the journey into our country,” Carlson continued. “If you’re interested in more detail, look at the website they’ve created, it’s called Arizona Border Trash. It’s dedicated to highlighting and cleaning up the thousands of tons of garbage strewn across Arizona by immigrants every year.”

“Illegal immigration comes at a huge cost to our environment. The Government Accountability Office (GAO) put it this way: “Illegal border activity on federal lands not only threatens people, but endangered species and the land itself. Illegal aliens and smugglers have destroyed cactus and other sensitive vegetation that can take decades to recover, including habitat for endangered species,” Carlson added. “One land management official described another federal property on Arizona’s border as so unsafe and with resources so destroyed that it is now primarily used for illegal activities and no longer visited by the general public.”

The question you have to ask yourself is why the left thinks it important to deplatform and silence Carlson for pointing out some very serious and concerning things about unfettered immigration. Not only is it damaging to economies, but it’s also damaging to environments. Oddly, the left seems to lose all interest in protecting the environment when migrants do it.

The same can be said for any protest group. There was little to no outrage over the complete lack of sanitation and care about the environment during the Keystone Pipeline protests, that saw protesters encamped on protected land. That land was so polluted with mountains of trash and chemicals by the end of it that walking through it was a literal hazard.

Nevermind the spike in crime that tends to happen with unfettered immigration too, with Tijuana proving no different.

Right now they’re trying to silence these kinds of facts from coming out on the left, leading one to logically wonder if they actually have our best interests in mind as they claim.
